Did BA give a back-handed insult to Tomlin?

Yes - His Win Loss record and post season records are above standard but when you watch him on the sidelines on game day, he just does not seem to be all that involved. I honestly think that he is an average head coach with better numbers becuase of the personnel decisions from the Front Office.

If a manager of a company goes to bat for an employee and still can't save him from being let go that that said manager's decision making becomes questionable.

You bring up a very interesting point here and I touched on it in another post. I don't know that I agree that Tomlin is on a short leash, but I do believe that Rooney saw his shortcomings as a game strategist, his inability to make in-game adjustments, etc. and felt like he needed a "head coach" of the offense if you will. One thing is for sure, with Haley you know that you'll be going into every game with a definitive gameplan and that if that plan is not working well he'll ditch it at halftime and come up with something else in the second half. With BA and Tomlin, that is something that has been sorely lacking.

It's called empowerment. Tomlin empowers his coaches to DO THEIR JOBS. If you wanna compare Chuck Noll basically dealt with his coordinators in the same manner so to answer your question, no I don't have a problem with it.

How about Tomlin to his job and stop being a puppet on the sidelines. Any coach who does not give input to their assistants is ridiculous. He is the Head Coach after all and not just a cheerleader. What does he do if he does not over see the offense and defense?

Do you think BA is lying or is this just his way of getting a subtle jab in at Tomlin for not standing up to Art Rooney for him? I don't know, Scott. Tomlin looks VERY uninvolved DURING games to me. Shouldn't he be COACHING and giving input and questioning calls and making suggestions and making adjustments? He just almost looks like a casual spectator at times during the course of a game.

I think BA works for the colts so, I don't listen to/care what he says about anyone or any thing. :swordsman:
