You did set yourself up for that.

The only thing that surprises me is that it took this long for someone to even consider it. And make no mistake. Once the first one comes out, the flood gates will open. There's a lot more out there than you might think.

And who cares? It's time we all got over ourselves.

So because he speaks out in favor of something, it means he himself is?

Maybe. But not necessarily. Chris Kluwe speaks out about it a lot too, and he is as straight as they come. Don't jump to conclusions.

I'm going to laugh when it turns out to be someone like Terrell Suggs, or Clay Matthews. You know: someone nobody would ever suspect because they think gay = soft and weak. Watching heads explode is going to be a lot of fun.

 

I'm going to remind everyone of the rules:

Keep it PG-13

No politics or religion.

 

You're more right than you know, even if you don't know why.

And we aim to keep that sort of vitriol, division, and nastiness away from this board. So regardless of your personal beliefs (or ours), we don't discuss it here.

There's plenty of other places to have those discussions. This is a sports (in general) and Steelers (specifically) board. It's what unites all of us. We have members of most if not all faiths here, and a wide variety of political persuasions. No need to bring in fractures.

So the rules have been in place here since day 1: No religion, no politics. I'd say no religious bashing or political bashing, but then people try to get away with it. So simply put, those 2 things are off limits.

I'm going to expound on this a bit. I don't know if anyone else is a member of a lot of different forums. I don't know how many of you have been going at it since the Usenet days like some of us have. But there's an almost undeniable set of rules when it comes to any discussion on the internet if left unchecked:

1- Regardless of the topic at hand, it will go off track and become either a political shouting match, or religious war - usually both.

2- No minds are ever enlightened or changed as a result of those flame wars.

3- Those wars DO result in major rifts among the members. Cliques form. People begin "ignoring" each other until you can hardly follow a thread since half the members can't even see what the other half is saying.

We don't want that here. It's hard enough to keep some flame wars from happening over something like "FBAI!" After a loss, sniping usually starts. Hell, after a WIN we get some pot shots taken. And these are between members of the same family: Steelers fans.

I don't care if you're a Christian, nor what sort of Christian. I don't care if you're a Muslim, or Jew. I don't care if you're a Mormon, Buddhist, or any other religion. I don't care if you're agnostic or atheist. Keep it to yourself as it has NOTHING to do with the discussion at hand. And I'm sorry - this is not a reflection on anyone, or any faith - but if you cannot logically, reasonably, or rationally discuss a topic without bringing your beliefs into it, then just keep it to yourself in this forum.

Same goes for politics. Often they go hand in hand, but not always. Either way. I don't care. And I really don't want to know. I would prefer to agree or disagree with someone based soley on the facts at hand, or opinions based on the facts at hand. Until God or Ronald Reagan comes down to Earth and proclaims himself a Steeler fan, we can leave them out of the board. There are more appropriate forums for those discussions (and the better ones are still regulated pretty strictly)
