I still think they would take an OL if they fell to them #17.

Heard/read a story this week that the middle LB position might be going the way of how teams are valuing RB’s. Putting more value on D-Line because that body type with great ability is harder to come by. LB athleticism in that size body can be had in more middle rounds.

Interesting take and going to see if it plays out in this copy cat league.

Absolutely. Depends on how the board falls. But it wouldn’t surprise me if the first three picks are DL, DB and LB in whatever order. I wouldn’t hate it either. They need to get younger and cheaper on that side of the ball.

It’s a tough position to scout because of the way offences have evolved. Even the good ones seem to take time to develop now. I think there is a good chance that teams start shying away from that position in the first round at least.

I heard the same thing because a lot of these ILBs taken in the first round haven't played up to it, the Steelers need to find a ILB in the mid rounds that can help in coverage.

I would rather see them go after Budda Baker, who reportedly wants out of Arizona. He would come at a more reasonable price and provide a nice upgrade over Edmunds, allowing Kazee to play the slot/third safety role similar to last season.

I don't see either happening, but I would at least kick the tires on Baker.

Baker said he wants to be the highest paid safety. They won’t pay him more than Minkah so he’d have to accept that.

Would be a heck of a backfield but contract/draft picks probably too steep.

Agreed. I read more about Baker's situation and demands this morning. I like the fit better than White, but neither would be a realistic option.

No more high priced guys on defense, fill out the roster with cheap rookies, guys like White and Baker are looking for big paydays.

When I read the 'blurbs' about these guys and the 'professional journalistic' takes on how the Steelers should do this to get them, I just SMH. If you are in 'that' place, have sold your franchise future and get that one guy to hopefully solidify your chance for a ring then maybe, It worked for the Rams, but we are not in that position, and have never worked that way.

In the modern history of this organization in the SB era, there have only been 2 times that I believe we were one player away and both times it was the QB position.

Mid 90’s and obviously O’Donnell was not the right guy (sure coulda used Marino here STD - lol) and about ten years later when they struck gold with Ben and things played out in a wildly magical story for the next few seasons.

If we were one player away in this era they just might do it.

This team has made FA splashes before - acquiring Better and K. Green and recently with Fitzpatrick. They might even consider Joe Haden a splash since they really loved the guy.
