Didn't we see a video last season too of him working hard? That sure didn't transfer to the field.

They edited out the part where he missed the tackle when asked to tackle a cone. Couldn't figure out how to get around another cone.

Dude was easily the worst ILB I've ever seen last season. How he was allowed to play as much as he did says a lot about the depth we had. His ability to avoid blocks and make a tackle near the LOS so bad it looked like he was intentionally trying to avoid any contact at all.

THERE ..Is the thing, the main thing! I only Coached youth Football but " Filling a hole, meeting a guy in the hole, manno e manno " is more of a will, than anything that you can teach!

As Madtown states, With Bush's stature , he was never one to " blow up " a blocker, or a hole...He skirts contact or dances around it! He's not " a Thumper " never will be!

Here's hoping that Jack can be more of the traditional Big Boy ILB, and Bush can be the sideline to sideline type

2nd year on the field after injury. First season back is always the hardest.

Hopefully he trusts the knee and is past the fear of re-injuring it. Looked good in the video.

I coached powderpuff football in college for sororities

That doesn’t qualify me for anything

It also didn’t seem to lead to my ultimate goal

I think that is what they are looking for, see what they can do schematically with all that athleticism on the filed.

They could still draft a thumper.

Much better I might add. Could not agree more. Perhaps he has seen some of his football mortality before him given what happened to him a season ago.

I do also hope that he can rebound back to what he was becoming during the 2020 season prior to that ACL injury.

To be awarded that distinction don’t you think a player has to actually “comeback” from a place of actual significance other than just draft pedigree?

Since his first snap in the NFL he’s never been a player or unremarkable and below average by nearly any metric.

But of course I hope he balls out and becomes a phenom.

I don't know ....His rookie season he had like 72 solo tackles....2 ints, 1 FF, 4 FR, a TD, and 9 TFL. That's actually a pretty dang good Rookie season.

How did he look last year in those same drills? We have know idea.

And looking good in drills may or may not translate into looking good on the field when other big, fast men are running at you.

All I'm saying is that we have no idea how the agility drills in the video snippet translates into actual football. Hell, for all I know that video could have been taken before last season. I wouldn't know the difference.

Devin Bush's problem is between his ears. He needs to figure that out first and the rest will go as predicted when they drafted him. That injury really screwed his mind up.

Bush was awful last season. There almost isn't even a way to describe how poorly he played. If he turns it around and has a pro bowl type year, I would say that is quite a comeback.

He looks more athletic than me, but those first few firing forward steps were a lot of nothing. Looked like a sewing machine. An undersized LB should be a bit more explosive than that. It's possible those shoes and the dry dirt field didn't match up (spinning in his tracks)...lets hope so.

People, he can't cover TE's, RB's. He is a liability.

I'm rooting for Bush, but I won't be satisfied until I see him actually shed a block or hit someone.

I am rooting for him also. Anyone that wears black and gold I am rooting for. He has many deficiencies to play
a starting lb position. You just pointed one out. And other teams will continue to attack these deficiencies.

Quiet your going to dash everybody's hopes.

But But the knee. Somewhat but not seeing and making a play properly is not due to an injury. Mental game = liability.

He was not worth trading up for.

5th year option should not be an option. Let him play it out.

Hopefully Flores can rectify his game. To much finesse, doesn't like contact, coverage skills are subpar. A lot more work to do other then some tape of drills.

Hopefully i'm wrong and he makes great strides. Between him and Edmonds at times they were playing with 9 on D. Oh 8, I forgot Schobert...
