You're right! That's why Ben was always so good after coming back from extended time off....

Also Cleveland will not be able to just overpay for five good o linemen, and everywhere else on offense. They haven't shown that they can consistently find good talent.

If the alternative is to do it the way you're proposing then, yes, yes I do. The goal should be to win MULTIPLE superbowls. You think the Rams are going to be happy with this years SB? Or, do you suppose they'd like to win another one in 5 years or less?

Browns have a very good team built to win right now. Watson contract won’t hurt until down the road.

Edit* This was supposed to be a reply to someone else.

    Yep.

Have to wonder though if this accelerates the Steelers plans to draft a QB or does the team stay the course?

The cap will go up the next 3 years, unless something bad happens.

I will repeat it..no team in the last 12 years has went to a SB having a QB taking up more than 12.4 per cent of the CAP. Maybe they will break thar stat, I doubt it.

With due respect and, I cannot believe I am even stating this, Mr. Analyst has a point... somewhat.

While I do agree on the premise that there will be rust for certain for Deshaun returning, Deshaun's conditioning was one of his strongest attributes coming out of college. Big Ben's conditioning... even in his prime... was not of the same caliber.

Not disagreeing with your overall sentiment about Watson looking rusty. Just stating he will be in better physical condition in comparison to Big Ben.

I agree. Three elite QBs are nothing to laugh about… but the Browns are

To add more fuel to that fire, without Hopkins and a power run game coupled with the loss of Watt and Clowney never reaching his potential, Watson struggled to build upon his early success and that was playing continuously for the first few seasons. He isn't coming off the bench cold to lead the dumpster fire through to the promised land after 2 decades in the wilderness.

And he did nothing in Houston because they couldn’t build a team around him. With his salary and no 1st round picks until 2025, expect the same in Cleveland. He’s good, but he’s not THAT good.

Yep. More can be found in this link here. Now, to Blast's point, his new contract will not kick in until next season. That said, it still is going to hurt. I am more interested in complete details but those will have to sort themselves out for the time being.

Edit: Here is a more comprehensive article.

    I did say you had a point here!! I also do not believe that Watson will pick up right where he left off. That said, I do believe his conditioning will still allow him to give him some opportunities he otherwise would not have. Never mind any of this though;

The NFL has yet to decide on how long he is going to be suspended? Who knows how long in all honesty? Could be 10 Games... could be the entire season. We shall have to wait and see.

Put a damper on my enthusiasm for the coming season. I’m back in favor of taking a QB, hopefully Willis.

If not, who’s the best pass rusher that may be available to us at #20? Forget Batman and Robin, I want Batman and Batman. Wreak havoc from both sides.

Burrow yes. Jackson? Have you seen Jackson do anything against us? Watson… well let’s see what they can do over time with his cap hit

That's why the Steelers need to load up on defense in the draft.

Until the browns actually accomplish something… they aren’t crap. Dropping 40 on the Steelers in the playoffs is not really a feat these days.

Yeah the Brown's signing Watson has knocked all of the wind out of the Steelers excellent FA signings. The only thing that gives me hope is that the Browns can screw anything up.
