Of course it makes sense , but because Eli was not a top draft pick then he has his draft status haters..Peeps who say no way will they start a young guy in the slot over Wheaton..People who say Coates is light years ahead of him and would start before him...Some people even stated they doubted he would even make the roster ..

I liked him before the draft and I thought he should have been drafted , just because he wasn't it didn't change the fact he really looked good on tape as a slot WR ..Then when I heard him speak about being a true student of the game and learning the playbook inside and out, I really had no doubt he would be the starter in the slot...

I have an adjustable wrench, it does a lot of great things for me, it can get bigger and smaller but sometimes I need a 3/8 inch crescent wrench is what's need and works the best for a specific job. It doest really work for a 1 inch nut though, but my adjustable will.

Seems like you made prediction that is most likely not going to happen.

You do have a valid point , but Eli will be able to do exactly what the Team needs ..We lost a true presence in the middle of the field and Slot WR''S and TE'S are very similar in that regards ..They make great safety outlets and help get the ball out of the QB'S hands faster ....The slot WR and the QB need to be of the same mind, they don't have time to wait for the play to develop , the slot guy needs to see the space before the snap and get there so the QB has a quick option if needed ..After he gets there have strong hands, and yac ability Eli checks all the boxes..

Y ? I stated what a starting slot WR was and barring injury Eli will be that guy ..Steelers Depot will have the # of snaps Eli gets in the slot and his number will be much greater than any other WR in the slot ...I think i predicted 80% once and the #'s actually came out to 66 % as your partner pointed out ..Either way even at 66 % he would be the clear starter in the slot ...Now if those #'s get around 55 % to 45 % for 1 other WR then I would consider them both starters...I don't see that at all...

Rogers will get 66 to 80 % of true slot formation snaps the other guys will split the rest..Making Eli the clear cut starter in the Slot...

No. I specifically asked you at the end of the season how many starts will he have on the stat sheet. You said 16.
    You will be proven wrong.

By your standards maybe ..But by the standards of what a real starter is the snap count will prove he is the Starter ...If he doesn't dominate the snap count then I will be wrong ... When I played HS ball my OC would let me go out first at TB we would run all our sweep packages my cousin would stand with him and watch how the D flowed to the ball ...I would only get the 1st. series for 3 reasons to fool the other Team of our true speed and #2 to allow the starting RB real looks at real game speed and #3 to set the tone because I was more physical than him ...Did I consider myself the starter ?No I did not I knew the purpose of my role and I only learned about 10% of the running package each week he dominated the snaps and he was the starter I was the role player ...

I see this the same way , other guys will have roles it doesn't matter if it's the 1st. snap the last snap or snaps in between, the starter is the guy the OC wants and uses the most that's how I have always seen it...

I didn't read it all, but with the long post and the alternate definition of starter I can tell it's starting to sink in that you've been walked right into a situation that you most likely can't win. Guys like you are so easy.

The only thing being a starter does is for the players. In this system if he dresses, he'll play. How many 3 WR sets they use will depend on the opponent and game situation. If they run a lot, then he should have those 60% numbers.

He should be dressed and active on game day and that's what counts toward accrued seasons and vet status.

You know the bad thing is I really like Rogers and think he's going to be a good player for us this year.
If PWP wasn't so overzealous with his predictions to the point he shames those that don't get as excited about a player then these discussions wouldn't go in this direction.
