I never thought had Spencer had much of a chance.

He just wasn't going to be able to contribute as much at WR vs Holton or Eli Rogers.

So much for the people who say our players never get poached.

Spencer has been around for a bit, he had a couple productive seasons up north. I know what you're saying though.

I thought he had a good chance as a return specialist, something Tomlin has kept before even though rarely. He has proven he can handle that role easily in the CFL and during preseason ....... Denver agrees so we’ll see this year for ourselves if that was a wise move.

My next train of thought was he is a potential weapon...... Chuks doesn’t deserve a roster spot and could easily made the PS..... Johnson..... well he did play well at both OG spots but was it wise to keep a OG only who will be inactive the entire season ??

Diontae Spencer was the all-purpose phenom on his last team ...problem was he did a JuJu his last play before the league folded. He fumbled the ball which ended his team's season...

He didn’t get poached, big difference picking someone off waivers and taking someone from another teams practice squad.

Something is not right here ...the practice squad has been announced but still no Johnny Holton?? Holton was by far the stand-out WR & we bring back Tevin Jones instead?? We have 11-spots available on the PS, only 10 has been filled ...WTF?? Mike Tomlin needs to answer for this...

If you planned on putting them on your practice squad after clearing waivers I would say there is no difference. Although I doubt they were going to do that with Spencer.

My bad, I'm thinking of that other league. CFL is all good, he played for the Ottawa Redblacks ...Spencer was the man!!! ...would've been an upgrade over Switzer but Mike Tomlin disagreed...

Gotcha. I forgot about that league.

It might have been Ben who disagreed, not Tomlin.;+)

The difference being is if you take someone off another teams PS, you have to put them on your 53.

And as you said, it was remote they’d put him on the PS anyway.

I was surprised as well to see Tevin Jones on the practice squad instead of Holton. I can't even remember Jones playing in the last couple of pre-season games.

I wasn't aware of that I thought if you took them off waivers you have to put them on your 52.

Was it you pushing the idea of Okorafor on the practice squad elsewhere, too? It wasn't going to happen. I know the guy didn't play well in the preseason games, but he did show something in games that counted as a rookie and he was always going to make the team.

I read somewhere that Holton needs an exemption for PS because of the active games he has played. IDK if this is the hold up, but they kept that slot open for a reason.

He took a step back, but he has the talent to be an very effective tackle. You do not find that often, you have to hold on to him and see if this was just a sophomore set back...he still is very raw from a football perspective.

Steelernation because we feel that a WR who was making big-time plays deserve better. Same as Skipper or UG3, if they didn't make the 53 or PS after balling-out ...an explanation is owed to Steelernation ...then we move on ...many fans think he can actually help us win

Tevin Jones played well during last year's preseason. He didn't shine this year. After Spencer got claimed, I expected him to make the PS along with Holton. There's no way possible Jones out-shined Holton ...so Jones making it over Holton didn't make sense
