Missed the position, A ball hawking safety would put us over the top,

Either a ball hawking safety or a shut down corner. Surprised the Steelers didnt make a move on this. Especially when we are this close and with the limited time that Ben has.

Everybody wants a good CB. Why would anyone trade one to us?

How do we know Artie isn't going to be that guy?

I'll pass on mortgaging the future. Just because Ben retires doesn't mean they will go back to 80's Steelers, they were a top team in the 90's, competing every year and even made it to the SB without a franchise QB.

But it will be the 80's again if they give up a ton of draft picks to get a shutdown CB.

He is too immature to be "that guy!!"

Steelers have never been big in getting high caliber players in "any" position via free agency. If the shut down corner isn't already on the team somewhere, we won't have one this year

Artie could be that guy, but we dont have anybody on the other side or at the safety position. Most good defensive secondary teams have two people that can ball hawk or shut down. I still think we one short.

As far as when Ben retires, trust me we will struggle until we get another franchise QB. If you remember when we were a top team in the 90s, we didnt have a franchise QB, but we had Cowher and great defenses, and used ball control type offense. We dont have those types of defenses or that type of offense now. And we sure dont have a franchise type backup QB on our staff now.

You don't like Davis? I think the defense is going to be a lot better than you do. Tuiit, Heyward, Hargrave, Bud and now Watt up front. Artie, Davis, Sutton, Cockrell on the backend. I think they are trending towards a top 10 defense. Mitchel is better than he gets credit for but he's 30, they'll fill that need next draft.

As for offense, unless they sign Vick again, it will still be good. AB, Bryant, JuJu, Bell/Connor, James and still have a great line will make life easier for a QB, Won't need a franchise QB to stay competitive. In the meantime, we'll find out what we have in Dobbs and next years QB class is supposed to be pretty deep.

We played in 3 super bowls without a shut down corner, whats 1 more, and I expect burns and davis to be pretty good in their second year and with a better pass rush we will be just fine, Deion just likes to get attention........

A shut down corner means nothing if you can't pressure the QB!!!!

If you give Brady, Brees, Rodgers etc., 5-10 secs in the pocket with the Ball they will beat you. Today's offenses and rules are geared towards to passing game..... They will beat you if they have time!!

Anybody read "One brick shy of a load"?

If you haven't, and you are a Steeler fan young or old, it's a good read/prognostication.

Every so often I start to think I know it all.

Then Deion Sanders appears and bestows a wisdom upon the world I could only every dream of having.

Thankyou, Deion, for this lesson in humility.

I think the same way as him...We need elite DB help to beat elite Teams ,I don't see our Team with elite DB'S as such we will fall a game short and Ben will retire and who knows how long until we can build a real Team that can compete..

I think the Team should make some moves now while we still have the QB ....

This. They were discussing Von Miller coming to the Steelers on the NFL network just a couple days ago. The Pats stopped our pass rush cold. CB's can only cover receivers for so long before "somebody" will eventually get open. Don't believe me, ask Ben Roethlisberger

Oh no, a shut down free agent CB this year or moving up in the draft for the sure fire player at any cost would have fixed that.
