Who will assume the role of defensive leader (call defensive schemes on field) now that Foote is done? Timmons?

And there is absolutley no way in hell Tomlin can keep putting Worilds in for Jarvis. JJ needs to be a every down LB STAT!! Recognize this Mikey

Timmons will wear the headset. He's done it before and is comfortable with it.

Said he did it when Foote went out Sunday, and expects to do it this week, too.

Timmons should do it. How long has he been a Steeler now.? Just wish he would of showed up yesterday. Seen way too many times Ryan Clark or Troy making the tackle in front of Timmons. It's pretty bad when the safeties have more tackles than the middle linebacker and make the tackles in front of them.

Looked like Timmons was holding back on the runs up the middle and they just kept getting first downs.

This has been my problem with Timmons so I really hope he does well as it would eliminate the need for Foote next year. Hopefully this gives Timmons the chance to be a complete ilb.

So you think Jarvis should be starting? I wouldn't have a huge problem with that since he seems to play with fire and heart and at the very least gets the crowd amped up. I can't wait to see him this week in person.

I think it's laughable that our defensive scheme is SO complicated that we're the only team in the NFL that couldn't possibly start a rookie. DL must be writing it up in Chinese-Mandarin, Russian or Latin... It's really quite comical to me. Absolutely Timmons can and should wear the green dot. Totally agree with AZSteel and Hack, JJ needs to start and Worilds needs to be the swing OLB but JJ's a rookie and can't possibly comprehend the most difficult defense to play in the history of the NFL.

It must be pretty hard because Cam still doesn't seem to get it. LOL.

Larry Foote's not going to be doing anything for awhile, maybe he could become the team tutor..:hmmm:

Yeah that would be a good role. Maybe we should just put the whole team on ADD meds. LOL.

This has always amused me as well (and by amused, I mean frustrated).

I presumed it was because DL's scheme involved a lot of role-changes - positions doing things those positions wouldn't normally do - and the extra time was needed to learn those skills.

While we're on the subject of D, though, at least McClendon looked decent on Sunday. For once the line is the least of my concerns on the defensive side of things.

He was a complete non factor on Sunday. I could have suited up and been as effective. And I'm an out of shape 37 year old.

Granted, I'm sure it's more complicated than this, but how hard could the assignment of an OLB be really? Either you're playing in a zone, playing man, or rushing the passer. It shouldn't be THAT difficult, should it?

This is why I hope Dick Lebeau retires after this year. This is why I was hoping he would retire last year. I appreciate everything he's done and have enjoyed his time with the steelers but I've been saying for a few years now that it is time for him to retire. Not that he doesn't know the game or losing how to coach them, but we waist at least 2 years of rookies contract sitting on the bench learning the system. Cam Heyward contract will be up in a year and we not sure what he can do. This is Ziggy contract year. If we wait for them to learn the system we will be letting potentially good to great players leave via free agency.

Yes I think Jarvis should start...I would rather live with rookie mistakes...than every play average.

Let Jones learn on the fly...if you want to let Worilds start the next 3 games to let him retain some dignity...I am fine with with...but the split needs to be in Jones favor....maybe 50/50 when you add in BREATHERS snaps for Woodley

Foote won't be back. I say this not knowing for certain but a hunch. It was Aaron Smith that retired after essentially the same injury.
