    Heyward- best player
    Hargrave- all butt and regressed
    Tuitt- bicep injury killed him
    Alu- good backup
    Walton- ok
    Big dan - waste

    Bud- meh
    Watt- good player, potential
    Spence- backup
    Moats- died lol
    Fort- ok backup
    Chick- ok backup
    Vince- compliment to shaz
    Tyler makemeasandwhich- sucks

    Burns- regressed
    Hilton - rock solid
Haden - good but not elite
    Sutton- potential but looks good
    Davis - regressed
    Wilcox- a waste
    Allen- potential
    Golden- sucks
    Gay- old
    Coty- haha
Mitchell- we can beat patriots in hell or haiti.

I think secondary will be improved next year. A healthy toot should improve the D line. Linebackers is a huge problem and NT.

Scheme sucks ass. Play your strength. Defense wins championships. Forget the offense

Agree! Re: your last statement, if you had a choice of either giving big money to Bell or an edge rushing FA, which would you choose?

Disagree on Hargrave. I believe the 3-4 was not a good fit for him anyway. A 4-3 defensive alignment can tap into more of his potential. Tuitt is a far bigger concern for me going forward.

Dupree is better off as a 4-3 defensive end. Have Watt play SAM, Fort play WILL (needs to lose some weight) and Vince play MACK.

Secondary wise? Mike Mitchell is as good as gone before the start of the 2018 season. Artie needs challenged.. badly. Everything else though we should be fine.

That’s a toughie. If it was a guaranteed dominant edge rusher then maybe. Bell is so dynamic

For that to happen, we need a philosophical change. Either Butler and Tomlin elect to run the 4-3 with 3-4 variations or we opt more for Faux 4-3 looks.

However it turns out, this needs to happen. Too many players are not unleashing their full potential or are having their potential stymied all together.

This falls on the shoulders of Butler and his staff. They don't always play a straight 3-4. They work a lot of hybrid schemes. Yes you are hamstrung with certain players but getting the best out of a player falls solely on the coaching staff. This Defense is pitiful.

I think Tuitt and Bud were hampered by injuries much of the year.

Hargrave is a terrible NT in the 3-4. both times we played the Jags he was getting man handled. He has zero ability to hold his ground. His arms are short and he's slow off the ball. Blockers with good technique own him and it happened all season. He's a back up for passing situations only. We desperately need a NT that can hold their ground. It might be best to find one in FA.

We have to hope Tuitt gets healthy and turns it around. .

Replacing Mitchell and Sharzier has to be the top 2 priorities this offseason.

We have to upgrade our depth behind Davis. He should have been demoted this season but we had no options. He needs to earn that starting job.

I think Sutton and Hilton will take Burn's job next year. I'm fine with our secondary other then the safeties. We can find a project or a special teams ace to replace Gay.

We need a solid OLB to compete with Bud . IMO he's like Davis but worse. He needs to earn is job. We need someone who can at least push him for that starting job and take snaps if he's not getting it done.

I'm actually ok with Butler right now. I think our problems are mostly personel. When you run our defense with no talent up the middle that is a recipe for disaster. NT, ILB, FS MUST be upgraded.

How did the Patriots turn their Defense around?
It was terrible to start the year.

I don’t see any star names on their squad.
I don’t think it’s all on the players, it’s the schemes.

Yup patriots work their strengths. They have quite a bit of duds but at least they can freaking tackle.

Our defense was masked by opposing OC’s being stupid. Jags went for it on 4th and 1 because they knew we couldn’t stop it. Opposing coaches would’ve kicked or thrown.

What you saw yesterday was coaching at its finest. Look what the bears did and emulate. Run at the Steelers and keep running because they can’t stop it for ****

Yep. The Bears game pretty much ruined the season. That... and Ravens losing to Bengals and Chiefs losing to Titans. Nobody to beat the Pats.

If the scheme sucks, that`s on Butler. Maybe it`s scheme or Butler is just not a good teacher. The lack of discipline and smarts by individuals makes me wonder, is it the teacher or the students?

There is NO discipline on this team whatsoever.

To many antics and end zone celebrations.

What did Bell do yesterday after a 3 yard gain, held the ball out and dropped it.

Not cool... throw it to the ref.

A disciplined team is playing next week and we're not the opponent.

Jesse James drop ruined our season. We don’t match up well vs pats or jags.

Times we won someone else knocked out pats for us.

We needed to be 1 seed jags 2nd pats 3rd and so forth.

Basically we face only chiefs, titans, chargers, ravens in the AFC then Vikings, eagles maybe falcons in the SB.

    Too many stipulations lol

The Patriots have an excellent secondary. All four guys can play. Also, Hightower is a good player, but he's not Shazier.

Are their too many chefs in the LB room?

Would Jerry O be better coaching the LB's by himself?

But some other stupid team cut a good LB so they were able to fill that hole. Too bad there wern't any LBs out there familiar with our defense that maybe could have helped with the pass rush and run defense. such is life.

i'll say it again, vince is a good backup. we need two more shaziers added as starters. no spence. we need a minimum of 2 safeties added. we need a DT added. we need 1 more good corner. we need 1 OLB. thats 7 picks or a couple of those as free agents and not bottom of the heap guys either.

not a big fan of butler, lake, porter, olsavsky as our defensive coaches.

I agree we definitely need to pick up a couple of quality free agents because I don't think we can get enough help in just the draft. And a couple of new coaches would help.

Jack Delrio for DC would be nice.. I'm not a very good cap or contract guy. Can anyone explain these numbers for me

    http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/pittsburgh-steelers/cap/

Looks like we only have 4.6 mil to spend next year ? If thats true how can we sign bell ?

    How could yesterday even happen?
How could the Defense not even make a play?

It’s like I was out there on the field.

How could they be so physically and mentally unable to make a stop?

I know we are moving aways from the old 3-4 we ran.

    But look at the Vikings...

They have a great DT anchor in the middle of the defensive line. They have 2 great edge rushers.

I'm just imagining if our defense had a big tall DE edge rusher on the other side of Watt. He would instantly have a better pass such and run defense.
