No. DeCastro is still gold, and Adams won't be the same player at the end of the year that he was at the beginning. I think one player that will help determine next year's draft strategy will be Sean Spence.

That 1st quarter was weird with the playcalling but I agree the blocking wasn't good. I think this will be another year where the Steelers set up the run with passing which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I hope this doesn't seriously affect DD's career.... this seems pretty severe, I hope we hear a doctors report on his outlook for recovery?

When they speculated he tore both MCL and ACL I immediately thought about Dante Culpepper who tore all the ligaments in his knee in one play with the Vikings and who's carer was essentially done after that. He never was even remotely close to the player he was. Thank god Decastro's ACL is still okay.

Devestating to say the least,He and Pouncey were the only good athletes
on this current line. We will have more of the same play as we have in the past.
Terrible just terrible, this is a talent we could not afford to lose. Terrible break for the
    PITTSBURGH STEELERS.

For what it`s worth, the Post Tribune had a recent article that stated the Steelers will NOT put DeCastro on I.R., because they believe he can come back in 8 weeks or so...(edit...my bad, I meant by the 8th week of the season, or so. Didn`t mean to raise unrealistic expectations...)

Still sounds bad, but maybe not worst case scenario to me...
And as Snack said in the o.p. ... No reason to jump off the roof (or bridge), over ONE player...
Yeah,,, he was gonna be an anchor on the line.
I think he still will be. Just might take a little longer...(Maybe next year, when he`s bigger, stronger, smarter)... Foster is not as bad as some others we have had on our line recentley...
    We will be fine.
    Scheme can help...
And, I am still a fan of Starks... Not the BEST lineman in the league... but FAR from the worst!!!!
He will give Adams time to develop, or show he wasn`t worth drafting... My money says he will develop.
GO STEELERS!!! (Is it time to kick Denver/Peyton`s ass yet?!?!?!?!) :yeehaw: :herewego:

His injury changes the whole landscape(offensive philosophy) of what the PGH Steelers
were going to become. He was going to be that important to the team, they (Todd Haley)
had a game plan built to his and Pouncey's abilities, the rest of the guys (Chumps) maybe
some of there ability would rub off, Ha. Now on to plan B. We would have returned
to Steeler football, but not without Double D in there, he was improving dramatically each week
and would be dominating by mid year. Unless Kugler can become a magician, it will be more of the same
as you have seen in the recent past. This is an injury we could not afford to happen. Buckle up for the
ride, it maybe a bumpy one.

Without minimizing DeCastro's worth to our O-line, if our success hinges on a RG, we're in serious trouble.
    I don't believe that's the case.

geeee you make it sound like he died and steelers FB is dead forever... lol.. well one thing... we have to look at is its the same line as last year... gilbert has another years experience but not sure he is getting any better.. plus we do still have the addition of adams.. plussssssssss and htis is a big plus.. we got colon back.. so we are already + adams.. + colon .. and maybe gilbert a bit more experienced.. not to mention pouncey has his ankle repaired in that operation? so even without DD we shoud be improved.. then get DD back mid season... work him into the lineup for 6-8 games.. then if hes that good we are ready for the playoffs.. i hate missing ryan clark in denver more then mission DD in any one game..

A good RG does not necessarily help you to be successful as much as a bad RG can help to make you unsuccessful.

We managed to win a SB without DD and a shoddy line. Losing him sucks but it doesn't determine the success or failure of this season.
