Did I miss his signing or is he still unsigned as I think?

    Re: DeCastro?

Still unsigned, and I believe so are the couple of guys drafted right in front of him. They're narrowing in though, getting closer to him. No rush. He does not seem like the type to miss a day of training camp, so I'm betting it happens in the next two weeks for sure.

    Re: DeCastro?

Yeah, some of the draftees above him and below him have been signed already so it just a matter of being slotted into a price range. Nothing to worry about.

Maybe he wants his career to follow Faneca's to the 'T' and is starting his career with a contract hold out :p

Colbert is gonna wait until the player right before Decastro and right after him sign. The steelers cant afford to pay him a penny more then what they can get him for.We are strapped.

How strapped are we? I thought we cleared a bunch of cap space by letting a few veterans go?

They've got 4-5million to spare. I believe Decastro's contract is already accounted for as well.

    Re: DeCastro?

The last I heard is we are 3.75 mil under the cap currently and Decastro's money is pre-set due to the new CBA. What's in question is what's garuanteed.

    Re: DeCastro?

Pick #25 (Hightower) just did his deal with the Pats...so it could be even closer to signing big DD.

    Help is on the way!

With the selection Of David Decastro, the Steelers just improved immensly,
watch how much better the OL will be from recent past years. He has Ray lewis in his sights ready to take his head off. He is that good and will be able to get to the second level Along with this,
Watch how Todd Haley will incorporate(run game) his talent in the offensive philosophy/play calling.
Here is hoping that we will see a more diverse game plan, one in which we actually will
be able to watch. If ben buys in to what Todd Haley is selling and Todd gets Ben to perform
up to his potential? Say good bye to all the MT set backfields, the thousands of bubble screens.
Thank you Art II for firing BA, now if we can stay healthy we should be able to compete
with the other playoff teams. And if all goes right we will be in contention for #7.
    Can't wait!

Someone on NFL Network a few days ago said that even if he didn't live up to his potential he could be a pro bowl player

Correct me if I'm wrong but he hasn't even signed a contract yet. If he holds out we will all be bashing the guy.

Re: Help is on the way!

Yes they are but there is a small amount of wiggle room and I am sure his agent wants to try and get as much as he can so he is waiting to see what the guys before and after his client got and then try to negotiate for around the same. The interesting thing that happened yesterday was that RG3 signed and was at the start of Redskins rookie camp so if the number 2 pick overall is signed already it sorta means that everyone who isn't signed needs to get it in gear and tell their agent to get the deal done.

Re: Help is on the way!

There are, and the new CBA was supposed to make rookie signings quicker and easier. There's a lot of speculation as to why DD isn't under contract yet, as no one knows the exact details, but a lot of this year's first round contracts are being held up due to the fourth year offset language. Teams want it in, players don't. Hightower, who was picked after Decastro, signed yesterday...so that should be a good sign that DD's contract will be penned soon. I'd be shocked if he wasn't under contract in the next 3-5 days.

Both Reiff at #23 and hightower at #25 are signed. Is there really any reason now why DeCasto's agent can't figure out how to get the deal done this week?
