i'm pretty sure giemont will get the kid to where they want him. smart is not a concern with DDC << :roflmao: ( all for you snack) just kidding? though, he's smart and athletic he has a less physical game. he never was a mauler type lineman. i don't know why this is a suprise if you ever watched him. he is pretty sound in his tecnique though and his athleticism is above average. add brains and we don't need him to beat the whole nfl, just his man. pouncey as good as he is , isn't the most overpowering lineman out there. they don't have to pancake their man every play. they block multiple people on any given play though. just a different way to get it done. it doesn't mean they can't outphysicl someone either, it's just not all there game is. DD will be fine and much better than kemoeatu. so right there's a plus. he should be overwhelmed to an extent by these guys, they are the best in the world at what they do.

as far as ben goes, i don't think he reiterated anything that most people don't already know, it's a big jump to the nfl for the best of them. that was the jist of it. these two started off at the draft together and ben has taken this kid under his wing so to speak. dave respects ben i believe, and ben may have given him some other pointers to. but saying what decastro said to him, is not some kind of betrayal by ben. it's just how the kid is evaluating his first 2 weeks in the nfl.

I have NP with what Ben said...I actually thought it could be like that for him in practice....The Talent level he went against in practice was way beneath him,he faced some in game Talent that was close.....He killed those guys in game and now he has in Game Talent in his face in pratice....The way I take that is DD is a gamer and when he gets to hit guys who are not on his Team all will see just how good he is.....

The drills are not best suited for game play and live time will be Decastro time....

Step right up and see the real drama queen folks! Wow, so many things wrong with this post. First, when Numbah called you out about where in the article Ben says DD is struggling you shot back something to the effect, "um, in the very first sentence". And then totally contradict yourself in this post. Then you pull a super drama queen exaggeration and say Ben threw his teammate under the bus as well as his new OC  I think you should take your own advice to Snack and calm down. It's no wonder you are uber sensitive to everything Ben says.

He will be fine! Coming in and dominating can be defined in a lot of ways and I would say if he is getting the mental aspect of the game he is 3/4 of the way there. I think what Ben said is fine and provides some human nature to the team. People seem to overlook the fact that Ben asked him to do a self-evaluation and he did. What was the question in the first place that Ben was responding to? If he was asked how Decastro was doing and he said, "Oh, I don't know, you should probably ask him" people would be calling Ben names for not being in-touch with his players. If you don't like Ben just say you don't like him. Why sit and take stabs at him and pick apart everything that he does?

I think the only one that needs to calm down is you. I'm still not sure which side of the argument you are on. First you say Ben needs to shut up and not throw everyone under the bus, then you agree with HACK saying whether he talks to the media or not he can't win.

DeCastro is going to be a great player for years to come and Ben didn't say anything that's polarizing in the least. Find a new punchingbag for awhile boys. It get's old and less viable the more that you focus on non-issues.

DeCastro will be fine. He is a smart man and will get stronger. Strength is easier to grow than intelligence. If he or anyone actually thought that he would come in here as a rookie and dominate veterans, then they may be a bit out of touch with reality --- this ain't the PAC12, folks!

I do think the author of the article took some creative license by saying that DeCastro is "struggling" and painting a picture that he is somehow not cutting it. That is a bunch a garbage. And for the comments about ben throwing DeCastro under the bus. All I can say is, WTF??? Ben shared how our #1 pick and future anchor of the OL is doing. Inquiring minds want to know and Ben didn't do or say anything out of line. Some of you guys just dig for crap to rail on Ben about. Sad, really.

I think this is good, shows Ben's being a leader. Probably saw Decastro was struggling and wanted DD to figure it out for himself.

A bit suprising DD would be struggling coming from a so called NFL plugin and play school like Stanford.

    Exactly!

David shared his thoughts with Ben, Ben shared them with the media. Judge that if you will, but it was the media that actually changed those thoughts into something negative, not Ben. That's plain as day.

I agree, plus it could be worse there could have been a team wide brawl that got national media attention *cough JETS cough Losers* then we really would need something to talk about.

Perhaps this is a result of having the first quiet off season in a while for this team. In no way am I complaining about a quiet off season lol.

Back in April, some of the draft 'experts' were saying things like "(Stanford OG David) DeCastro is overrated. On tape, he is a good guard, but he is not special by any means. You love the kid, you love the work ethic, you love the makeup. But in a normal draft, you’d like to get him in the second.” Hopefully he will prove them wrong.
