Since the trade for Aiyuk doesn't seem to be happening, maybe the Steelers should try and get Adams during the season.

Yeah, but what happens if the Steelers start off poorly??? Could the Steelers be SELLERS at the trade deadline this year?

Because with the Steelers schedule backloaded the way it is, If the Steelers don't come flying out of the gate this year they are going to be in big trouble down the stretch.

“flying out of the gate” - I’m not being a jerk here I swear, but that is hilarious. A non Ben modern Tomlin team??? The last two years we had to like week 13 before the O-line “gelled”.

I had some moderately high hopes that this team would be a very solid unit that had some QB difficulties, but otherwise some real fundamentally sound stuff. Kinda like 2004 before Ben was drafted. I don’t know why.

I think it’s because with Kahn around I’m enjoying what the organization does more in the offseason. What a sad state of affairs I have a black cloud saturating my optimism.

This is my new normal until shooting star like Ben comes around again. I’ll try to keep it at a minimum until everyone else enters this realm and then we can commiserate together.

They should be working on that NOW. Adams is wasted over there. Give them the 49ers package.

Another pipe dream ala Aiyuk, CC Lamb, and DK Metcalf. Does anyone really think a top 3 WR is going to want to play for a team with Russ or Fields at QB, and that O-line? Lol

Steelers need help at WR now. They can’t wait for someone that might become available 4 or 5 weeks into the season.

Hopefully Khan has something up his sleeve and is not putting all his eggs into the Aiyuk basket. I fear though that if they don’t get him they will be content going into the season with what they have.

I think you hit the nail on the head of how many of us feel. I am not one to be negative (especially coming out of training camp), but even the most fundamental things are not happening. I had the expectation that the many holes we have had the past few years were filled. The question mark was and is can/will they perform well. It may happen, but there has been remarkable trend of crap along our O line for many years. Yes it is both individuals and a unit as a whole, I don't think its lack of talent, but coaching and positioning decisions.

Well, they aren't going give up one of their top 3 guys. The rest of them aren't that much better than what the Steelers already have.

When has the Steelers ever been sellers at the trade deadline?

The last time the Steelers had a complete change in the QB room???

This year is completely sailing into uncharted waters for the Steelers offense.

I still don't understand the DK Metcalf talk. Seattle doesn't need the money. and I haven't heard anything about DK holding out or being unhappy in Seattle.

Now, CeeDee Lamb on the other hand is currently holding out wanting a monster contract and the Cowboys still have to come up with the money to pay DAK. I would hope the Steelers are in a conversation with Dallas if CeeDee continues to Holdout and the Cowboys decide to move him. I have not heard if the Cowboys have given permission to CeeDee to begin trade talks with other teams yet.

    John Metchie III from Houston.

I believe he would be a solid consolation prize should Aiyuk not be available.

When you weigh the cost, Metchie may be the better option and not just a consolation prize.

There are only a handful of "perennial winners" and those guys generally have a QB under a massive contract, so yeah. Plenty of WR's will play for a team that doesn't have a top flight QB. As long as they feel wanted and the price is right of course lol It's not like we're a 3 win team that someone might not want to spend their prime years at...

Isn't Jamar Chase holding out for an extension currently also?

Hard to call someone who caught 16 balls for 158 yards a "better option". I get we wouldn't have to pay him and give up the draft capital, but Metchie wouldn't necessarily be a lock to make the roster. He's essentially the same as Austin... a guy they might like, but someone who has proven 0 in the league to this point. Neither had an outstanding or overly promising first season, but if you like the player, you're still hoping they develop into a decent player down the line.

Yes. But if I'm the Bengals, I'd cut him before trading him to us.

Also, there's 0 chance he's getting traded. They are going to pay him, they just don't want to pay him just yet. I think he still has 2 full years left on his current deal. Not sure why the holdout. He should be paid handsomely after the season.

Lamb is a really good player. He'd be the perfect complement to have beside Pickens TBH. However, better be ready to make him the highest paid WR in the league. 30+ million gets you to the table. He might want the 35 that Jefferson got. He should at least get the 32 that AJ Brown got. He's certainly a bit more pricey than Aiyuk.
