I heard today that the Steelers D moved up to 2nd place. I find that hard to believe that on how we ****ted away the games we played this season. Just imagine if this D was really good.

The stats can say whatever.. The 2nd best defense in the NFL doesn't give up 4th quarter leads. Having said that, Dwyer seems to be capable of helping them with that problem and the defense played very well against Cincy. Here's to that becoming routine. :herewego:

I argee that it should be more than just yards allowed to rank the defense, they should factor in turnovers and points against among other things, but right now that's not the case so I'll take the glory that goes along with a #2 ranking.

Sorry, no way the Steelers have the 2nd best defense in the league regardless of what the official rankings say. Not even close.

Also our special teams is not very good and a lot of teams have good field position on us to start with. So I think that explains why teams aren't putting up a lot of yards.

Points against is the stat that matters.

I believe we are currently 8 th in that stat.

If we could get off the field on 3rd down, those stats and ranking would have a lot more meaning. Lets see how we do against RG, he's the type of QB that can kill us, if we can put together 2 good weeks in a row defensively I'll start feeling better about this unit.

I agree, but that stat can also be misleading. For instance, the Bears defense...which is very good don't get me wrong, doesn't really have the kind of schedule that makes you go...yeah, they are facing the league's BEST offenses. San Francisco is in that same boat. They play a couple of really good offenses, but for the most part, the offenses they face are pretty average.

Any stat can mislead if you don't actually watch the games. A weighted scale which would take into account the SOS number of the offense compared to each defense would be a more accurate number.

If we can get a modest "W" @ Heinz sunday it will set the pace..i'm not into crunchin' numbers ref. rates/stats we just need to stack sum wins. The AFC North is up for grabs and i believe the Ratbirbs will soon be shaken from there perch. :herewego!:

Stop dropping touchdowns, stop dropping 1st down catches, and stop settling for a frigging field goals. If not for those 3 things, we would currently have only lost 1 game. As bad as the D has played, they havent given up more points than our offense should have scored.

So you mean do not play Mikey 7 drop on 3rd down?
