The Steelers still have to make a roster move when Bell reports tomorrow, probably Sutton to IR.

I read where the Steelers saved 2.5 million by cutting Cockrell, Johnson, Golson which could go towards a Tuitt contract extension.

True story, I appreciate how we can have real conversations here. Even us who wear Steelers colored goggles

I have nothing to disagree with you on, but I wonder if a portion of that won't be kept in reserve. The 53 man roster will not be the same as the 53 man roster when the playoffs start. Injuries happen. So, maybe it will be used to pick up missing pieces along the way.

I thought there was enough of a chance that he'd be good to risk the 6th. Apparently the culture change wasn't enough to kick him in the butt.

I wonder if Holba goes to PS to develop as a blocker/tackler.

Well said. Sometimes you have to "let them play" a bit and not throw a flag for every borderline comment.

I dont know about Fitz but I think Ayers could end up there with Edleman out.

And they lost Cyrus Jones, who was potentially punt return plan B.

19 of 32 teams around the NFL only kept 2 QBs. Interesting.

    Agreed.

Ayers may not have had that much time to showcase his improved return skills but what we did see was "what could have been".

Translation? What could have been for us will likely be what will be for another team.

    I was thinking the same.

Within the same vein, who is the biggest loser from the practice squad standpoint? Not sure but I suppose we will have to wait and see.

Personally though, I think players like Jacob Hagen and Francis Kallon are good candidates. Hagen has improved considerably over the preseason and Kallons athletic potential can definitley be molded into something better down the line.

I think the Panthers kept 2 kickers. Very interesting.

Yeah well I guess they weren't ready to give up on a STs draft pick as quickly as we did :smiley1:. Actually just from watching the last game against us they seem to be happy with the kid from GTech i believe he has a big leg....maybe they just need a little time deciding between him and Gano...

So was Brian Mihalik (Colts) the only player we released that was signed by another team?

Smart. Emergency QB belongs on the practice squad.

I don't think we could have gotten Dobbs to the PS.

I wouldn't have drafted him in the first place.

Which likely means 19 of 32 teams have a third string QB that nobody wants

Pretty sure he would be safe if cut. We didn't even need to draft him. He would have been there after the draft as an undrafted FA. I doubt there are teams out there hoping that Dobbs hits the wire.

I would have thought all along that Dobbs would have been safe going to PS. But I see Kaaya got picked up so you never know. I wouldn't have wanted to lose Dobbs so better to be safe I suppose.

Call me old school, but I like keeping 3 QBs on the 53, especially given that Ben often misses a couple of games and we'd need to elevate someone to #2 if he misses time. Also, specifically with respect to Dobbs, he showed progress and really looked to have a good grasp on the offense in the last preseason game. I don't think it's a sure thing that he would have gone unclaimed, and I like the progress I'm seeing so far. Definitely progression from week 1 to week 4.

The Steelers won't put Dobbs on the PS, we had the same argument about Landry.
