This guy needs to go NOW! We don't need an off-season in which there continues to be speculation on his overall brain health and whether or not he can contribute in 2017. We need certainty in the TE role and Jesse James and Xavier Grimble are a good start. We'll also need to look to draft another TE this year to complement James. What we DON'T need is an off-season filled with uncertainty because this position is just too dang important. I for one don't want to have to hold my breath every time he takes a hit next season. If the guy misses 5 games after the relatively tame hit he took against the Bengals, his brain is a ticking time bomb and he needs to retire now for his own good more than anything!

Question.. Might be stupid but instead of coming for his signing bonus. Could they say, here is what we will do. Either we come for the money you already have or we will cut your salary down to league minimum or 1 million next season. If you are serious about training and getting ready for 2017, prove it and show it to us next season and you can earn the rest of your contract. I'd be willing to give him a chance for league minimum or 1 million against the cap but not 6.1 million.

Given his injury in the Orange Bowl, I wonder how far Jake Butt is gonna fall? Might be worth a looksie

A team should have the power to take legal action if they can prove that there were issues not disclosed before signing him. I know that'll never happen but...SHOULD

Wouldn't the due diligence process be up to the Steelers regarding prior injuries? Unless it was something documented and hidden.
Watching him play reminds me of Troy P the last couple seasons, always wondering if he was going to get up after a hard tackle and wondering if he was going to be okay. As much as I hated to see Troy go, I think it was the right decision and still would have been if it was year sooner. Most of these guys are pretty young when they get out of the game, they shouldn't have to suffer for the rest of their lives, despite the salary they earn.

Players lose signing bonus money for undisclosed injuries from time to time. Proving it in his case could be difficult.

If it was hidden and could be proven..that's why I said I'm sure it'll never happen, but should be on the table if its not!

Ill say it here, and I'm pulling for him but ever since he started playing in games I noticed after being tackled Ladarious always sdeemed to get up slowly like he was a little foggy, anybody? I think next year is his last year, all of last summer plus the fall didn't seem to help, I hope this summer he gets better, but those guys once they get hit watch out, remember Eric Lindros late in his career, head trauma is something the league still needs to figure out, CTE has shown up in young players too, so..... sorry for buzzkill grim prognostication...

Going to have to trust the Steelers on this one. Hopefully they won't put this young man in harms way if they feel he shouldn't be playing anymore.

Theres no rush to make a decision though, I'm not frightened by a little uncertainty :lolol:

Someone mentioned Jake Butt, dang shame what happened to him, I was talking about this kid last draft. If he's there late, I'd grab him.

Keep him and have him ready for next year. He's an asset . The steelers should fine the best specialist and find out what's going on with this guy. If its treatable then let's get him on the field. If not, then we have to send him into retirement. Hopefully we can get some money back

I still like Jesse James. Give the guy some game time and I say it ll pay off big. Ben wanted big guys, 6'7 260.

I disagree, bring Green to camp he has the whole offseason to get right. If they get rid of him then they would probably draft another TE in the early rounds, instead of drafting other positions of need.

I suppose you could do that...but be prepared to never sign another FA ....Who would sign for any contract that they feel will be CUT DOWN if they under perform are get injured.

I think this may be a good option for us. If Butt falls then we take a chance with no hurry to rush him onto the field. We bring Green back and hope he is right and stays healthy. If he don't we have James as a very good back up and at some point Butt to help out. It is all gonna depend on how far he falls.

Good and bad like the Pens. But hey, Crosby is still playing at elite level. Ben is still alive. AB rarely injured. Bell always injured but still playing at top level. Must be doing something right.

For every Ben, AB and Bell, there is Brandon Boykin, Ladarius Green and Sammie Coates.
