the article breaks it down pretty well. they will probably have to do some internal moves (extensions and such) if they are going to sign a WR or trade for one depending on who and the price.

 

If the team doesn't trade for a Wide Receiver, an extension will likely take place next. Question becomes who is the player that gets the extension?! Should be Pat Freiermuth but I don't think the team is going to extend him just yet. Fields could but likely not until the conclusion of the NFL Preseason.

to have earned an extension. He is a blocking liability and with
new OC supposedly run oriented he better learn to block better
than what he does.

Why? Even if they bring in someone like Aiyuk, his 2024 cap hit would only be something like $14 million.

did you read the article i posted? it explains how much they have and will have. they are actually by the start of the season about 2 mil. over the cap so yeas they will have to make a move for more money to sign a wr of any amount let alone a guy with a hit of 14 mil.

Because they would need 5-6 million cap space that they carry into the season, Aiyuk 14 million would take up most of their cap space.

 

Wow, none of the sites I am looking at Like Spotrac, or Overthecap are showing the Steelers needing to clear $2 million in cap space before the start of the season.
