Austin? No. Butler? Maybe. Tomlin ran a legend out in Dick LeBeau because he thought he could do it better and failed miserably.

Puppets in the sense they didn’t have full control of gameplans. Tomlin did. Then they would take all the blame when it failed until this year ofc.

Yeah, this isn’t the 70s… Ben and Rodgers rarely allowed to call their plays and when they did most fans believe the offense looked a 1000x better. Things that make you go hmm. But I already explained that to you in another thread.

I’m just thinking of the offense looking anemic for 25 mins. Then Rodgers drives them into redzone. HoF QB known for catching defenses subbing. Then there’s Arthur Smith trying to sub in the goal line package. Burn a timeout, kill all moment, give their defense a rest, and let them sub. Truly mind boggling stuff.

You really think a defensive HC with Tomlin's longevity isn't going to have a say in the defensive gameplan.

I'd still say it's very rare in the modern NFL. It's a very QB-driven league. Look at the past 20-ish Super Bowls. There's not much average in there:

Jaylen Hurts (you might say he's average, but he was MVP)
    Mahomes
    Mahomes
    Stafford
    Brady
    Mahomes
    Brady
Foles (you might say he's average but he played OUT OF HIS MIND that season)
    Brady
    Manning
    Brady
    Wilson
    Flacco
    Manning
    Rodgers
    Brees
    Ben
    Manning
    Manning
    Ben
    Brady
    Brady

I think if you go back even another 20 years, you're going to find that the vast majority of super bowl winning teams had VERY good QBs.
