    Well they don't cook it with stewed tomatoes, and instead it's served over creamed potatoes with a gravy pour over the whole thing.
    So let's say I've eaten it two ways

    I know the tomato sauce brings the cabbage flavor out…wondering how gravy, beef flavored? Will taste with the cabbage? Brown gravy?

    It's delicious You know how you cook it in the stewed tomatoes....this time you cook it in mushrooms, and onions gravy. I love it both ways

    IMO....most food tastes better later on. All the spices, and herbs settle in better.

    Exactly... Example:
    Chili. I had some I froze last month. That I heated up today, and it was way better tonight than it was a month ago.

    I grow 4 cabbages a year and it all becomes haluski then I get tired of it for another year

    You left off the most important ingredient……butter

    The only meal that takes me 6 months to prepaid because I start the poblanos in March and get dinner in august

    My wife and I shared a vacation cottage with my parents. The one of the last things my mother did before she died was bought a 20 pound box of frozen Lima beans from Agway.

    I was raised to not waste food.

    After completing that project it was 30 years until I tried them again.

    My mother was Irish and god bless her we didn’t starve. But every meal every day was meat potato and vegetable. Meat was baked boiled or fried. Potato was baked boiled or fried. Vegetable was boiled and boiled and boiled….

    No seasoning salt and pepper on the table

    Now I eat them solely because it’s an excuse to eat salt pepper and butter.

    Ditto corn on the cob.

    On a side not I eat the official corn on the cob of the Pittsburgh Steelers

    The Steelers head chef is a neighbor and buys his sweet corn from my farmer neighbor who uses my property

    We just made vacuum packed and froze about 50 stuffed banana peppers for the winter

    No water but a dry cast iron skillet on the grill is my go to way of cooking a ribeye
