It would shock me if a draft pick was taken away for this.

You are correct...IF he didn't know he was that close to the play.

However, its hard to be taken by surprise and startled by Jacoby Jones when YOU ARE LOOKING AT HIM. Watch the video. He's looking over his shoulder RIGHT AT HIM.

And as far as Jumbotron lag, again that could come into play...IF he were actually looking at the jumbotron.

IDK to me its as obvious as the nose on my face. Im usually a pretty understanding guy and one of the things I (try to) do well is see the other side of things. Im just not seeing a defense here.

I read this this morning on my phone and was surprised.

I doubt we lose a pick. Tomlin may be fined but since he didn't touch the player I doubt the team is penalized with a loss of a draft pick.

If we end up going 0-4, the Rooneys may look at it as an early Christmas present. :lolol:

IMO he did it on purpose. It's pretty obvious when looking at the video. I was so disgusted at the time and couldn't believe a Steeler coach would do something like that.
I hope the Rooneys address this with a statement to the media. Whether they say its no big deal of they go as far to discipline Tomlin with a game off, I'd like to hear their thoughts on it.

Yeah, but the Rooneys may choose something a little more drastic?

Roger Goodell will do the right thing, which clearly is to fine and suspend James Harrison.

Are you talking about the play where he motioned like he was going to tackle him? We were talking about that in another thread, Ray D was actually at that game. Funny, I don't remember anyone making a big deal about that, somehow Cowher didn't disgrace the organization but Tomlins actions did, all because his pinky toe was on the field.

The only thing about this incident that bothers me, is now we have to listen to people call us cheaters, other then that, who gives a :bscow:

What Cower did is quite a bit different than what Tomlin did.

Why? He was in the white and crouched down like he was going to tackle him, not supposed to be there, neither incident changed the outcome of the play. Whole thing is absurd to me. Molehill meet mountain.

Then Tomlin should not have made that move. If he isn't smarter than that by now, he'll never learn. I bleed Black and Gold but Tomlin was wrong.

And that means what to me? Besides, with the exception of a few, most chiming in on this don't like Tomlin to begin with, surprise surprise.

It means that more than likely you're wrong. Dude you're so consumed with proving the Tomlin/Ben haters wrong that you have a hard time keeping an open mind on issues involving the two.

Except he never stepped onto the field nor impeded the runner's ability to continue on his path. The reason Cowher's is even remembered is because it was funny. Funny because he had to repress the old LB instinct. Point being, he DID pull back.

You can argue that Tomlin forced him to cut inside by blocking his path.

I'm actually a little disappointed it wasn't flaggged. We've never seen it happen in the NFL, so it would have been history. The penalty would have been awarding Baltimore a TD.

I don't know if it was intentional, although it looked like it could have been. What I do know is that intentional or not, it was incredibly stupid.

Oh really? Pot calling kettle black there aren't you Glenn? I said I don't think he did it on purpose, I said I have a hard time believing he would do that knowing the controversy it would cause, I laid out a plausible scenario where he may have genuinely been surprised about his location, YOU are the one dealing in absolutes and say there is no way he didn't do it on purpose. Get your **** right Glenn, you're the one bent on trying to prove he is guilty.

Every time I paint you into a corner, like with Cowher and gamesmanship, you try to change direction and avoid the point. There is no difference between what Cowher did and cheating is cheating, doesn't matter if it's a coach or player.

In the post game interview the returner (Jacoby Jones) even said it affected him.

I agree with that, I agree it should have been flagged too. But neither affected the outcome of the play and it's definitely being blown way out of proportion, draft picks? Really, that's comical.

Well, yes. Draft picks is ridiculous.

But if they fined Tomlin, or even suspended him for a game, it wouldn't shock me.

Either way, bet your house that next year it's a big point of focus on the rules. No one better get caught toeing into the field at any time while a play is in progress.
