I think it will be us, I think if it was the Panthers he wouldn't have left without a deal.

Ben vs Cam. Choice is simple.

If Cotchery chooses Carolina, you would have to figure a WR or TE would a virtual lock at #15. Signing Cotchery will give us some flexibility.

Especially with how Carolina is dismantling their team this year. They're going to be horrible. Of the two, Pittsburgh will be light years ahead of them in terms of having a shot at a championship.

How much ? lol. Some fellow Coaches said he was Impressed with the Panthers and the offer. I think he does Love The Steelers ,but if the money is better and the play time is better we are going to say good bye to MR. Cotchery.

Yeah I'm thinking the steelers as well. The only thing about Carolina it would give him a shot at being a #1.

That is true too. if Carolina is willing to outbid Pittsburgh by a big enough margin, then he may opt to take the money. You never know what a player's thinking or what his logic is. It's easy for us to sit here and think what WE would do in a player's situation, but we are not the ones with millions of dollars on the line. Money talks.

I would love to have him back, but won't cry if he leaves. We will bring someone in to fill that role.

not only if it's slightly more money but a chance to be at least a #2 at carolina. we are trying to get signee's at minimum prices and no guarantee's of starting. that hurts our leverage with signings. in his case a last contract and chance to start. for some other younger guys at other positions, a chance to start but bigger money is a few years down the road. hard to get guys bought into that.

If I was him, and I was offered multiple millions to potentially finish my career on a team that's a contender, I'd do it. If they offered him a mint, then what's there to think about? He's already been in talks with the Steelers. He knows what they're offering...

I agree on this ,but from what I hear the offer was close to a Million more a year with the Panthers . Plus you can't say that the Panthers are not contenders they made huge strides last year ,but now they have lost all Vet experience at the WR position .Which IMO would make him want to go there even more.

I really want him to stay , but I can't see how he can pass up this type of deal .

Oh, I think they are. In the beginning of my last post I was talking about the Panthers. I don't think the offers are publicly known.

Another thing he needs to look at is will Cam Newton be any good this year. Missing four months for ankle surgery seems like he had some pretty bad damage in there.

Just hearsay on the #'s. But here is what I heard..3.5 mil a year for 3 years which I think is a huge contract for him IMO.

That could still be a low cap hit depending on how much of that is signing bonus.

I hope he sticks around with us, doesn't put up a lot of yards, but had a lot of TD catches last year, and let's face it points are a good thing.

Cotch has an opportunity to be the man in carolina, or at least the #2 at worst..... with us his best bet will be the 3rd option behind brown and miller, and possibly the 4th depending on wheaton's development. . .. that's not even factoring in bell's presense in the passing game....... I think the only hope we have of getting him back may be our locker room atmosphere

Gut feeling says he goes. As far as being on a winner now..... Carolina had a huge upswing last year, depends on how Cotch views that.... one hit wonder or sustainability. Most games he was ignored for us. Yes he had 10TD's but more often than not he wasn't targeted much. 17 receptions, 17 receptions, 46 receptions in his tenure as a Steeler to date..... Steve Smith gone from Carolina, hard to really say what Cotch wants to do until he decides.

I tend to agree. Cotchery may well feel that he's worth more than coming on for 3rd downs every so often.

Though I imagine all those conversations have been had with both organisations. We shall see.

To me that is saying he doesn't want to leave Pittsburgh but the Panthers offered him a decent contract. I could be way off though.
