Controversial, but Omar Khan and possibly Tomlin should be terminated if they fail to sign a QB

I suspect that the First Round Pick will be that DE or even NT in the case of Grant. Benton is more so a hybrid NT/DE as it stands.

It has been a perfect cruise. I was able to dive every morning at the 4 ports and hook up with my family in the afternoon.

I still think the draft may be a wild card. Not with the Steelers drafting a QB, but with another team drafting a QB and then trying to unload their current QB. (Chi, Jax, and Mia)

I have not heard of any crazy hype pushing QBs up the draft board though.

I will admit it now .. after watching the Kenny Picket vs Will Levi's game 2 years ago I still can't believe how bad Kenny looked for Arm talent compared to Will. Levi's was throwing rockets, while Kenny seemed to be stuck in girls softball mode

Well, the problem is Levis likes to throw rockets to the other team .

You suspect? They have put themselves in a position where they have to draft for need. That’s not a good thing. Additionally show me the guarantee that draft picks always pan out

But that is something you can work on.

Although Ryan Leaf fans would argue with that.
:). Trey lance may be a bigger flop for being all talent and no skill. Kyle shanahan could't fix that wreck of a 3 first round picks.

I would imagine that Tomlin agreed to trade Claypool, but it was Khan that got the #32 pick for him, so he started to build cred. The 2024 WR room damaged that cred. Hopefully, ARII is leaning more towards Khan/Weidl in the draft and personnel decisions, because Tomlin/Colbert was not good at the end.

Would love to see Kyle’s face the moment he realized they ****ed up.

The only thing that softens that blow is lucking out with Purdy. Would have been worse having no QB AND 3 1st rd picks.

    IDK

    We don’t have a quarterback and I wouldn’t mind having 3 1st rd picks

It is a scary proposition going into the season with Mason as #1.
It's not that I don't like Mason, I do. I am more comfortable seeing him as a #2.
But I am waiting to see what they pull off.

It was a bad year for FA QBs so I’ll give them a pass. Fields was likely the best option, but he’s hardly proven. I don’t think Darnold will prove to be worth what he’s making, so I’m fine passing on him.

They do badly need to find a long-term solution though. So far they’re 0 for 1 (actually I guess Kenny is on Colbert, so Khan hasn’t taken a swing yet).

Fields would have been fine, but I doubt he is getting any better. Given that Darnold was willing to sign a deal that gave the team an out after one season, not signing him was a mistake. The Steelers had more cap room than the Seahawks and better receivers to throw to, but they tried to lowball him and got stuck with Rudolph. Even worse, they have wasted so much time holding their money for a quarterback that they didn't get the help they need elsewhere.

No, lol, the three 1st rd picks are gone PLUS they wouldnt have had a QB. At least Purdy saved them there.

Drafting for need (DT) at a position deep in talent isn't a problem. It's only a problem when looking for a player in a weak class... and drafting Artie Burns.

With how the FA period went, I feel like this will be a pretty common thing for "mocksters" to do with our top pick.

Funny on ESPN this morning Steven-A asks Mel Kiper who he thought would be a better fit Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson. Mel answered the question by talking about Justin Fields for the next 5 minutes and how much of a huge mistake it was to let Justin Fields out of the building.

Fields should have been resigned before free agency began. It was crazy why they kept claiming they wanted both Fields and Wilson back this off-season.(Art's post season Interview ). Why not comit to one or the other and lock down your guy before free agency???

Steelers should have been all in on Fields if Arthur Smith thought he could build a team around Fields. None of this trying to be neutral BS to not show your hand.

That was part of the reason Fields left. According to Fittipaldo the money was close but they wouldn’t commit to him. He wanted to know that he’d be the starter and not have a repeat of this past season and the Steelers wouldnt do that.

Which tells me the Steelers are planning on drafting a QB. Either that or this staff is just grossly incompetent. If you aren’t planning to draft a QB than they should have assured Fields, yes, you’re our guy, we are going to build the team around you, here are the keys.

I know I may be in the minority on this, but the only QB I consider taking at 21 is Sanders (Ward isn't falling).

I like Dart, but I don't see him as the BPA there.

I was looking at options the other day if the focus is on Dart, and one thing they could do is if the Titans and Giants take Ward and Sanders with picks #1 & 3, trade down to #36 with Jacksonville, picking up one of their thirds (#70) and their fifth (#142). This puts them one ahead of the Raiders, who may still be looking for a QB to develop behind Geno, and leaves only Cleveland at #33 for Dart to have to make it past.

If the Browns do take him, you should still have guys like Johnson, Henderson, and Judkins at RB; Collins, Williams, and Alexander at DL; and Revel, Jr., Hairston, and Morrison at CB on the board, and five picks over the next three rounds to address their other needs.

Draft 7 QB's, throw them against the wall and keep who sticks then start building a contender;)
