I don't think there is a RB that would be available out there who I would one too..

But I do think we should bring someone in... Still not comfortable with Edmunds back there.. Not too sure why we kept him.. I know he was PS but still..

What would people have said if they put in another RB and he fumbled or somehow caused a turnover? Tomlin has issues but this isn't one of the reasons.

    Hey SDOT.

That is exactly what I was saying. What was the point except to take foolish risks. Sure, anything can happen on any play. Given that, give some of the other players some reps. and minimize Connor's exposure if it can be done. That whole expression that Tomlin devised about "running the wheels off" of his running backs is one of the most idiotic comments I have ever heard. Then again this is Tomlin we are talking about. Because Conner never fumbles, right? Hell, tell Nix to hold it with both hands and slam him into the line three times rather than risk Conner at this point.

If Conner and Snell are out for a few games, Would we consider Jay Ajayi ( if in shape ) always though he was a pretty decent back... Shouldn't cost much

Tony Brooks-James is small but he flashed a bit in the preseason for the Falcons. He could end up helping if called up.

This is the NFL. Even starting QBs are rarely pulled in games that are securely in hand.

Not sure why considering coaches are so protective of every starter in pre-season games, but don't do a thing in most regular season games that are clearly over, but that's the way it is. Now maybe that would change if someone like Russell Wilson tore his Achilles handing off with two minutes to go and a 20 pt lead, but for now you play your starters all the way.

Conner had 23 carries for 145 yards and 1 TD, I dont think 23 carries is being over worked....

I agree. to look back and say Conner shouldn't have been playing then is simply wishing he hadn't gotten hurt.
As some have said, in the NFL, the starters play till the end unless it is a blowout. It is not called a blowout with less than a 2 TD lead.

And Conner simply was protecting the ball when he got landed on.

Finally, it seems Conner is simply prone to injuries. He has proven that. He was gimpy last week, and luckily we had 2 weeks to get him healed.

I worry that Conner is not our long term RB if we are trying to win games to get us into the playoffs.

Shoulder injuries are no joke. I dislocated mine a few times, learned to pop it back in. Something about the shoulder joint is way more painful than other areas of the body

Conner is injury prone? He was gimpy last week? Yet it was prudent to slam him into the line when everyone in the stadium knew we were trying to run out the clock. They could of handed the ball to Nix from the I formation. Teams give their FBs carries once in a while. Or they could of simply trusted the guy who’s been here all season to take a couple hand offs. Playoffs? Conner isn’t going to be able to help get there from the sidelines. To me the latest example of living in our fears....

Only one out of this list I would gamble on is Crowell..

We like the growth and development of Trey Edmunds since we brought him up from the practice squad. He has been a consistent contributor on special teams for us. He had a couple of tackles for us (against the Dolphins), and we’re not afraid to utilize him as a runner. So we’ll do what’s necessary at the running back position to fortify our depth. One thing we know is that people aren’t concerned about our problems, they’re glad we have them.

Tomlins words. Maybe someone should explain the definition of fear and being afraid.
