Partially because he's the only one that has been able to play in 17 regular season games (and has started and been healthy in all 51 games in his career). Also partially because he has 834 carries (and nearly 1,000 touches) in that 3 season span.

Madness to make that assessment off one bad game in crap weather. *big eye roll

Also funny that prior to a month ago many said no chance they should pick up the option.

WEEK TO WEEK I TELL YA!

Yeah, he's durable not many RBs stay heathy every game for three straight years, while getting that many touches.

This isn't based off of one game, he deserves to have his 5th year option picked up .

He's also huge and takes care of his body well. Its nice that we haven't had any crazy injuries for him. He was banged up at the beginning of the year last year with his foot, but it wasn't bad enough for him to miss any games.... and that's it.

Kudos to you if you have felt that way all along. Just saying not sure that was the consensus point of view (prior to the last few weeks). I personally would love for them to find a way to keep Najee and Warren together for years to come. At what cost though, right? No denying Jaylen has made himself some coin in the near future.

Pretty good year for the backs

    Harris - 1205 total yards (1035 rushing) - 4.06 YPC - 8 TD's
    Warren - 1154 total yards (784 rushing) - 5.26 YPC - 4 TD's

Definitely a bright spot for an offense that had very few bright spots throughout the season. Would love to see Najee be more efficient, but the last 3 games he really ran differently than he had previously (4.33 ypc average). Hopefully we get to see at least one more game this season.

I think Najee's 5th year option would be a little over 6 million.

To me it depends on what the option's value is. His 5th year option would cost us 6.6 million dollars based off Over The Cap's projection. If his option is at the 10 million range, he'd be pretty heavily overpaid... but at around 6.5 million a year I don't see that as a rate that is too far out of line for what he brings to the table.

Got ya. That isn't too expensive. 6 million a year would make him t-13th highest paid RB. I think there are probably more than 13 backs that are better than Najee, but its not so expensive that I wouldn't be willing to do the option.

That's still just one year and short-sided point of view. No knock or anything, just saying Najee and Jaylen together for next 3-5 years would be ideal.

    Those options are expensive, no?

Maybe my double negative threw ya off, but I am fine with Najee for a year at 6 million. That seems like OK value for what he brings to the table. If there is a team that wants to pay Najee 9-10 million in FA after his 5th year option, then I'd let him walk. We can find another guy to do Harris' job as well as him for much cheaper than that.... but at 6 mil for a year, he's fine. Plus, Harris will be 28 in the first year of his next contract (after the 5th yr option) not sure I'd want him much longer than that anyways.

Kind of sucks for RBs, but they have the shortest life span by average. Love Najee as a guy on a personal level too great person and teammate. Definitely pick up the 5th year option

Yeah, he's good for a maddening cut or two every game, but man, he was fun to watch today.

It isn't just one game. Despite sharing the load with Warren, he went over 1,000 yards. He was at his best the final two weeks of the season to help the Steelers try to fight their way into the playoffs.

Still for the life of me why do we try to run outside in bad weather, neither team could get to the outside running. Why cant the play callers see this. The biggest difference with Matt Canada calling plays was we go less side to side and more straight power running and power blocking straight ahead which has helped our line blocking. This is when Harris is at his best going straight ahead and the line line going power blocking and pushing for extra yardage.

We were doing good with running up the middle why try going outside on slippery turf especially at the goal line under those conditions.

Some need to think about this. Warren has as many fumbles in His Career as Najee does in his career, and with over 600 less touches.

Fumbling has always been a known issue with Warren. He hasn't been horrible here, but it something he has had some issues with throughout his career in football.

He cleans that up, and He would be even better. It can be done. It's been proven if they really work on it.
