Just read that Sean Davis was sidelined today with some apparent injury that required ice. Ladarius Green hasn't really practiced yet. Golson is basically done for the second straight year. Artie Burns has a thigh issue (?). Doesn't it seem like every single year at this time, the Steelers just gradually lose guys.....guys that they really can ill-afford to keep out of practice due to them being new players. I know training camp is like this for all teams, but it seems like the Steelers get hit exceptionally hard with it every single year. I already have doubts that Green is going to be productive this year. When was the last time the Steelers signed a free agent that was productive/healthy in year 1? Cotchery maybe but even that was short-lived. I already am petrified about Friday's game because I know somebody significant is going down. I read that Ben, AB, Pouncey, etc. aren't playing which is great. But I have a bad feeling about Friday. Anybody else feel this way? Is this just business as usual or is this something that has snakebitten the Steelers for what seems like years?

If it makes you feel any better Steelers Live crew said that the Lions never tackle in practice or really hit and they haven't been really good since the 90's so there is an example of what not being physical brings to the table

Worse: 3 of the 4 are DB's, the team's greatest weakness. We just can't seem to get the secondary squared away.

Deangelo Williams was a GREAT signing and I forgot about him somehow. Part of me wonders if that's worse that the Lions elect not to tackle and the Steelers still have guys dropping like flies.

DeAngelo Williams was healthy and productive in his first season with the Steelers.

Well their secondary is cursed. I am convinced of that. We could bring Mel Blount and Rod Woodson back and it somehow wouldn't work out.

Tomlin was just praising Sean Davis' conditioning level. Best of the rookies he said. Just a physical game...

American Football is one of the most violent forms of athletics in the world. It does not matter if a team goes full contact or not.

Injuries can and will happen; regardless of training regimen, conditioning, blood lust ( see Vontez Burfict), "freak injuries" or other circumstances.

Injuries happen, look at the league and all the players dropping. Keep Ben up and don't worry bout it. Ben out season over.

I disagree with these comments, sure there is some bad luck involved for every team. But for the
most part a well conditioned athlete will work through injuries, And as far as hitting goes, how do you
get better at tackling if you don't practice it? I understand the CBA rules, but when you are allowed
to hit you should be hitting.

it's a long season. rookies haven't played against guys this fast and smooth or hit this hard in their lives and they can get twisted up trying to impress. friendly fire is a concern too. a friend of mine played DB for the steelers and in his rookie season in camp he told me about covering a wr in practice and was making a tackle on the guy and our MLB bryan hinkle came over and knocked them both clear out of bounds cleaning up the play. he said he's never been hit that hard in HS or college. these guys are for real, fast and monsters. he found out the old saying , protect yourself at all times. nobody got injured but he said he knew this was a whole different level.
