Per Mike Prisuta's twitter. Colon confirmed it himself. Looks like Adams will be our starting LT from day one and we can continue to develop Gilbert on the right side.

I think there's no way they've decided that Adams is starting already.

Yeah I'm going to have to agree that Adams starting isn't decided just yet. Not saying it wont happen just wouldn't buy his LT jersey today is all I'm saying.

I think that 'decided' means 'hoping really, really hard, with all fingers crossed'.

Obviously, they cannot just pencil him in at LT now, but they can plan on him starting there, and if he does not to work out, we won't be much worse off than last year. Right?

Wow, that is awesome. I had given up hope.

It also speaks to the confidence they have in Adams.

This is exactly what I thought as well. Although, has Adams participated in the rookie OTA camp or does he have to sit out due to Ohio State's rules thing?

I'm nervous to start a rookie at LT, but other teams seem to start rookies all the time and it works out for them.

Potentially could mean Max is coming along also and projected to start at LT, with Gilbert staying at RT. They made the promise to him that he would be LT before they drafted Adams...who could take over from Max later in the season or next year.

I think they do have him penciled in as the starter at lt. If they didn't they wouldn't have called colon rght after the draft to tell him he is moving. If they don't have him there then who d they have j. Scott c. Scott neither of which is a better option. My feelings are they are comfortabl with him from the tape they have seen. The fact that they called olon right away about says it all

No he doesn't have to sit out at all. Pryor did because Pryor bolted for the NFL without sticking around to serve his suspension. Adams served his while still at OSU so that's behind him.

I think this makes a lot of sense especially when you think about Gilbert's development. Gilbert showed a lot of promise last year at RT as a rookie and should only get better. When we went out and took a LT like Adams in the 2nd round (a guy with 1st round talent too) it's evident that he is the guy we eventually want starting at LT. So why stunt Gilbert's growth and move him to LT when we know we are eventually going to move him back anyways when Adams was ready?? To me, that made no sense and I'm glad they aren't doing that to Gilbert. Colon being moved to Guard makes a heck of a lot more sense than chaning Gilbert's position temporarily rather than let him continue to develop.

As far as whether or not Adams will start, it will remain to be seen although it looks like that is what they are hoping for. If Starks is healthy enough and in shape enough he could be brought back to start at LT for the interim if Adams isn't quite ready.

I think he is talking about how some schools are on different systems (quarters I think) and they dont graduate until sometime in June. I think this is the case with Adams and DeCastro...as it was reported after the draft.

I highly doubt starks will be back first he is hurt and was out of shape last year. He wasn't good in th run game either now he is going to be hampered by a bad wheel so he will be even worse. I think if he was going to be back he would have been already so the steeers medical staff could keep tabs on him and make sure the rehab is going well.

Here's some other links about this...

Anyways...FINALLY!!! I was hoping for him at RG since he's familiar with the right side...but where ever they think he can plat at best is fine with me. Now they have all the pieces to make a solid line if everyone stays healthy. As far as the LT spot and Adams/Gilbert/Starks stuff...we all would like Gilbert at RT Adams at LT...especially since Adams would have Colon a vet next to him compared to having a rookie. They could even start with Gilbert at LT and...wait for it...J Scott at RT (which is his best OL position). Obviously if Max is cleared/etc he could start out at LT too...it should be a fun/interesting OTAs/camp/etc.

Of course he is hurt...but theres months and months before the season starts...plenty of time for him to be ready...especially after reading numerous reports of where he is. And yes the previous year with the neck injury or whatever he got out of shape...but when they re-signed him he was in some of the best shape he's ever been in. And why on earth would the Steelers (or any team) waste money and sign someone who is currently injured and rehabbing...thats just dumb and chancing flushing money down the drain if things dont pan out. And you do not know if they're keeping tabs on him...from reports out there I've seen over the months the team and him have been in communication and I wouldnt put it past him doing some rehab/work at the Steelers facility even.

If he isnt on the team i dont think he can work out or rehab at the facilities. i think its a liability issue important not sure though but i just dont see why everybody acts like he came in and was an all pro last year. he was horrible in the run game last year. i just dont think he will be back unless its for the vet minimum. i dont think he will be ready anyways. Hampton has a chance but starks was worse then snacks and big snack doesn't have to make lateral movements. The season maybe months away but I still don't see him being ready to play week 1. I think they are going to hand the keys to adams. If pouncey and gilbert didn't do as well as they did it may be a different story but I believe they are comfortable with starting rookies on the oline now. That's just my thoughs I could be wrong but I think starks would be nothing but a liability next year

Wow, I must admit I'm pretty surprised by this. I hoped it'd happen, but I didn't think it would. In recent years, talk of Colon to G has been approaching the realm of Cheerleaders or big name FA signings. I don't think Adams is a given to start at LT day one, but stranger things have happened I suppose (see Colon moving to guard).

This caught me by surprise. I fully expected colon to maybe move inside next year,if he stayed, and at RG at that. I figured Adams & gilbert would fight it out in camp as the LT and Leave Decastro @ RG for this year before a move to LG next year. This could mean a couple things.

Gilbert will NOT be our future or temporary LT.....as expected with the drafting of Adams.
Adams is starter @ LT with an experienced OT next to him @ LG.
Starks is as he claims ahead of schedule on his ACL rehab.
This would put a rookie (decastro) and a 2nd year player(gilbert) on the right side and they feel good about this.

OT Scott is on the books for 2 mil this year, still, so maybe they're really optimistic about Starks return, even as a back-up.

They have not even had a real practice yet! No way that is even close to decided. In fact, I almost guarantee that Adams isn't the starter this yr. You cannot put the life of your franchise QB in the hands of a rookie who at times was lazy as hell at OSU. No way.

My thing is the whol calling him right after the draft. If it was the plan the whole time they would have told him right after the season and there wouldnt have been talk about gilbert to the left. So something(adams falling) in the draft happened to make them feel this move was good.

Yes, Adams needs at least a practice or two before he gets the starting LT job locked up. But in all seriousness, this just indicates how weak we were on the O line.
