The best thing about him is availability. He’s not bad nor good definitely not first round but not everyone has to be a superstar

You make good points about Edmunds. If he was a 3rd round draft pick....he would be the best thing since sliced bread and not a bad word would be said about him. Also.... Edmunds dwells in the shadow of HOF Polamalu. We Steelers fans are spoiled.

Edmunds is bad, but he's not horrible on the level that Bush and Green were last season. I know they didn't have great options behind either guy, but at some point you have to show that there is accountability and bench a guy who is that thoroughly awful. The line got a lot better when they finally benched Green.

I have never considered Polamalu in my evaluation of Edmunds. I would find him annoyingly below-average if he was a third-round pick. I would just talk about him less, but he would be no less crappy.

And the fact that he is constantly chasing receivers from behind and getting burnt in coverage or out of position. I’ll give you he may not be as bad as Artie Jarvis or Bush though.

Not true IMO. One game record it,and just go back ,and watch Him. If He was a 3rd round pick....He would be gone already. JMO.

Let’s see who takes the first defensive snap tonight

    Bush or Spillane

That will tell what the coaches are thinking

I'm not as schooled on some of the finer points of the game as some of the other members. But for whatever reason, he is often chasing plays and/or avoiding contact. He looks fine physically. I honestly believe he has lost his passion for the game and is simply trying to do enough to earn an NFL paycheck. As someone else mentioned, there are few options behind him. Spillane, God Bless him, plays as hard as anyone but he is slow and lacks the raw athleticism of Devon Bush. Johnson and Robinson are raw. However, I'd rather see those guys playing hard and possibly making mistakes than Bush half-assing it because he's trying not to get hurt.

I know you were responding to my post. I didn't include Edmunds because he's merely bad, not truly horrible in the way that Green and Bush were last season. One of the dumbest things they did in-season last year was stick with Green at center. He should have been benched much sooner. It showed in how much the line play improved with Hassenauer in there, which tells you just how horribly Green had been playing.

Ultimately, they may up playing Spillane because he can at least hold his own against the run. The problem there is that he is so bad in coverage that he becomes the equivalent of a cheat code for every opposing quarterback. The optimist in me thinks that the other starting inside linebacker might not even be on the roster yet.

I don't know who's still out that there that they could sign that's a better option than Devon Bush, at least for this season. And as much as fans would welcome him, I'd be mildly surprised if they were able to swing a deal with Chicago for Roquan Smith. My gut tells me that Steeler brass is hoping beyond all hope that Bush can at least tread water until they can address the position either via next year's draft or possibly through free agency. I don't have much confidence that his play will improve significantly with the starting defensive line in front of him. I think he's broken. Also agree about Spillane. He's worse against the pass than he is good against the run. There is nothing that will click with him that will make him a permanent replacement. He is what he is.

I agree...., but I also think there are times Edmunds should be yanked.

Jarvis Jones is still Colbert's greatest blemish. Devin Bush is a disappointment... for now. Pending on what happens to him during this season though, he can move up the leaderboard for certain. He is approaching bust territory though.

Maybe a camp cut like Joe Haden

Omar had a pregame segment on how the scouting department is currently searching for potential players that fit their needs

That OL is atrocious!!!!!! All of them! They can't even run the ball in a PRESEASON game!

I'm really worried... Trubisky was running for his Life, As soon as he got the snap...

Idk if Claypool/ Bush combo would net us any kind of decent OL

Robinson is not afraid to initiate contact unlike someone we know.

Myles Jack is a 180 from Schobert and is an aggressive player who welcomes contact.

    1. Artie Burns - Because it was such a panic move. Colbert was blindsided.
    2. Jarvis Jones - Just a major disappointment. I thought he slid down the board and we got a steal.
    3. Mike Adams - Like Jones, I thought we got a steal. Even at Ohio State, there were questions about whether he "loved" football.
    4. Devin Bush - I was never impressed with him at Michigan. I never thought he was an NFL 3-4 ILB. Devin White was the guy they needed to trade up for, IMO.
    5. Limas Sweed - Couldn't catch the ball to save his life.

    Others worth mentioning:

Bud Dupree - Just ordinary until his last year here.
    Terrell Edmunds - Average.
    Ziggy Hood - Average.
Senquez Golson - Dude was a durable as a wet paper towel.

Dupree had 11 sacks in 2019, then he had 8 more in 2020 before he got injured, so he wasn't just ordinary until his last year.
