Not saying this is going to happen, but I would not be against blowing up the 2013 season in order to take Manziel with the #1 overall pick in 2014. Of course, this is assuming Manziel comes out early. Since he was a redshirt freshman, I believe he is draft eligible even as a sophomore.

They swept us in 2011. Split this year with our win coming on the shoulder of Batch on the road.
I would say Harbaugh has built that team to beat us over the last 5 years, but the jury is still out. They obviously have fared far better than us two years in a row, but I wouldn't say they have our number or that we can't beat them with this years roster undergoing the typical changes. This 8-8 teams was pretty close to sweeping them this year with back up QBs in both times.

Should have been cut after he was torched by a guy who will be out of the league. IE: Tebow. That was the most pathetic display of corner play I have ever witnessed. From a supposed #1. Taylor has more then lost a step. Played well enough without him.

If they sign Keenan Lewis I can see them letting Ike go. Or a trade! Keenan Lewis is the top priority to keep.

But alas, Ike is a seasoned vet right? And we all know LeBeau covets his vets. Sometimes to long.

The Heath injury has me worried. They are going to have to address this in the draft. Hope he comes back strong. But with both a torn MCL and ACL the rehab will be tough. 9 years in for Heath. Would be a good time to groom a compliment and eventually a replacement.

I see some changes, but nothing too drastic. We will have Ike and Lewis next yr. Troy and Clark are going to be Steelers next yr. I say Wallace and either Mendy or Dwyer are gone next yr. Pgh will draft ILB, OL and WR for the first 3 picks. RB, TE, NT and QB will be drafted in latter rnds. Harrison will surprise some by dominating all season. Timmons will also have a great yr.

Ike may not be the best but he's our best. Steelers know this and he's the last place they'll look to cut.

I'm glad you're not the Steelers GM Manziel is like 6'0ft 185lbs he will not be a #1 overall pick. Just because he dominated in college doesn't mean that will work in the NFL.

Hmmm, I really hate pulling out the 'do you actually watch football/did you pay attention to the game' card, but, re-watch the Tebow TD play.
The safety 'was' in the exact spot where the ball was thrown, he moved up in run support... BAM, he left Ike running down a quite fast WR.
    Hardly Ike's fault.
Ike's getting older, but, still a solid CB, not elite(we actually under-rate him tremendously) but very solid, overall.

    P.S. Manziel?? That's hilarious!

Exactly, the whole defensive game plan sucked. Everyone knows Tebow isn't a good passer but they acted like he couldn't hit the side of the barn. They focused too much on his running, all they had to do is put a spy on him and play normal D, that would have been the end of it.

    ps. Manziel?? :roflmao:

We're not even close to being bad enough to finish in last place, and even if we were, Manziel doesn't interest me. Not to mention that a season where we finished in last place would suck. I'd much rather watch them win games.

Person who started the thread wanted something big. I honestly wouldn't care if they cut Taylor. Sure he's pretty good in coverage, but can't catch. I'd love to see someone more capable of creating turnovers. I also wouldn't mind if they kept him. He's just boring, unless he's having one of his meltdowns where he gets a few PI penalty's.

Not going to get into if I watch the games closely or not, but, with the handful of passes that Tebow threw, old Ikey couldn't step up to his #1 statis. Toast comes to mind. Tebow floaters. Lets blame a more speedy wide reciever and no over the top help :lolol: Oh well, water under the bridge. Just was never sold on the great Ike Taylor. Drama queen, headcase.

Keenan Lewis is the best corner on this team. Well, hopefully he is on the team come training camp.

In the future I will try to watch the games a bit closer next season so i can add some witty banter.

I can't see logic in cutting Taylor. He had a few really bad games early in the season, but for the most part he shut people down. How does holding AJ Green to 1 catch for 8 yards sound? Allen is coming along, but he still needs to be the #3 corner for another year.

Ike got beat numerous times by AJ Green but fortunately for him Dalton either missed him or he had help from the safety. Ike got beat for 2 TD's that game but only 1 counted due to the safety breaking up the 2nd TD. Ike did not look good that game, his stats do because he had constant help over the top and Dalton missed a few passes.

How about this, Moving Ike to safety and also moving
Silverback to ILB. I would welcome these changes.

I don't think Ike has the run support ability and Harrison doesn't have the speed to cover receivers in the middle.

Let me clarify what I said. I did not say that I think Colbert should blow it up. I only meant that if that's what Colbert meant by making changes (releasing Troy, Harrison, Ryan, etc.) and trading Ben (as one poster suggested) then I would not be against it if it meant getting Manziel. This approach worked out well for the Colts (though unintentionally). As for Manziel, he's about the same size as Drew Brees...and only 20 years old. If you like the way Kaepernick plays the game, and if you think that he and Russell Wilson will change the the way the QB position is played, then wait until Manziel arrives. He's better than both of them.

ike is great in run support and if JH is healthy , he is more then capable of running with guys. though that won't be his main job.

Harrison does not have the speed to keep up with the speedy TE's in the league, nor is he going to cover a slot receiver. James Harrison isn't one of the faster LB'ers in the league, he'll get scorched in coverage.

since when do we have ilb's covering slot receivers? we use safeties usually for covering speedy TE's or timmons.

Agreed. I am no Ike Taylor supporter but one thing Ike Taylor can DO
is HIT PEOPLE. He is not afraid of CONTACT. If Silverback is healthy, he could
play a Ray Lewis role and just GOBBLE up running backs. He physically likes to impose
    his will on opposing players.

he can also bring pressure up the middle. it doesn't say anywhere that the only way to the qb is from the outside.

:this!:I would also like to see Harrison next to Timmons in the middle linebacker roll. He still is a good run tackler and they could be great in the middle. I would then take a chance in the draft for a pass rushing type outside linebacker.

still not sure sure Worilds could handle that full time, didn't make many splash plays when he had an opportunity.
