The Steelers were able to upgrade a position, where a player who played well last year (factually indisputable) was no longer as good of a fit as they transitioned to more Man coverage. That same player (Cockrell), lacked the versatility to keep a roster spot (no slot/special teams). You can try to correlate the roster changes to validation of a poorly informed opinion from last year. You're still wrong.

Sean Davis was awful last year, and has been the worst DB this preseason.

Davis has been bad but tough to say Golden wasn't worse.

Golden is horrid. Not NFL caliber. Davis at least offers potential.

Oh for sure. Davis will get better.

I never bought into why people thought he was so good last year. He looked like a rookie 2nd round pick.

Hopefully he will get better but our safety situation is scary bad.

More like catastrophic if Sean, Mike or whoever our safety pick up is gets injured.

No doubt about that. Be that as it may though, Sean Davis did look like a rookie but there were some bright spots last year for him. Not many, but they were noticable.

You're just butthurt because you were championing Cockrell, and the bottom line is he sucks. At least Davis has some upside, Cockrell can't play man so he was expendable we agree on that.

I'm not butthurt. I'm happy with the move. As soon as Haden was signed, my opinion was to cut/trade Cockrell. I'm pragmatic. I don't get into agenda bias... love/hate player nonsense.

What do you all think we'll end up in return for him? A 7th? Maybe a 6th?

He had only 9 starts with 70 tackles combined, with 5 pdefs 1 int which as a rookie learning the position at the NFL level wasn't that bad, I expect him to be a lot better this year but if he doesn't show improvement i'll help you bash him:cool:....

Just saw that we traded Cockrell to the Giants for a pick. Can't say that this breaks my heart!

    I'm not surprised.... he's struggled all pre-season..
I've been saying for the past 2 seasons that cockrell was strictly a zone defender... the switch to more man coverage made him a liability
