Cockrell played 40 snaps to Boykins 11 yesterday. Looks like we will be keeping our 4th round pick which taking a shot on a guy and losing a fifth makes me feel better that he isn't working out. I wonder why he fell out of favor so quickly. Hopefully Cockrell blossoms and none of this matters. Also interestingly enough Dupree lead all OLBs with 51 snaps played. Could our young playmakers actually be living up to their potential? Dupree and Cockrell are only going to get better. Now the question becomes do they dress Boykin or Allen when Allen is healthy? I think Boykin will have a total melt down if he doesn't get a helmet and may end up like Blount last year.

Boykin had a hurt groin earlier in the week, I think that's why he was limited. He had a good pass defense in the end zone. Things will pan out.

There's no conspiracy going on. The coaches are putting the best players on the field.

Boykin made a big play, broke up a TD. As someone else mentioned, he pulled a groin. He'll get his snaps.

Having Harrison on the tam during the off-season is good for the OLB's. Looks like him and Porter tag-teamed the teaching duties!

JJ has "a little" bend now, also showing some power and I'm betting Dupree get's some nice inside counters by the end of the year!

Yeah I felt REALLY good when Boykin broke up a sure td. WITH BOTH HANDS AND CLEANLY. Ike would have probably mugged the guy. LOL.

I was wondering yesterday if maybe they kept him out another week since we had such a huge lead. I didn't know that he had a groin issue going on.

Boydkin is the best CB on the roster, he will get it going soon if healthy
and the coaches let him? But what to do with the 25 million dollar other cb and now Cockrell?

This is just a guess on my part, but I'd imagine he didn't play much because of the injury.
Could be he still learning the defense? Or it could be a disciplinary issue that they're just not going to talk about in public. I guarantee you though it has nothingto do with what draft pick will have to give up next year.

Some fans act like the coaches are a bunch of bumbling idiots who know nothing about football. I trust that they know exactly what they're doing and are puttingThe best players at that particular moment on the field.

If Carnell Lake can't make Boykin a pro bowler in three weeks then he should clearly be fired.

    That's not actually a thing.

We all know when Bell comes back no one is going to see Williams even though he is getting 100 yards per game.

Jarvis is still taking snaps from Harrison (though he looks much better than he was he still has 3 sacks in his career). Really? Steelers feel Jarvis is the best OLB they can find?

I never agreed with Gilbert over Adams. Gilbert gives up as many or more sacks (6 vs 3 in 2013: the only season Adams got real playing time) and is soft in the run game. Adams gets pulled for making mistakes while Gilbert remains the starter. Gilbert has allowed multiple sacks in several games now. Adams doesn't look great now but he has barely more than one season of experience... what do you expect?

Paying a 3-4 DE 10M seems high to me. So... if and when the Steelers do find a stud ROLB... 15M a year?

Steelers Depot did an article last year about CamThomas getting 23 snaps in a game while Stephon Tuitt got 4.

Sometimes the best players are inexperienced and will make mistakes. When your HC says he doesn't "Live in fear" but actually does- then you get benched every time you screw up and never get better. You have to learn by making mistakes.

You would have to elaborate. You are insulting my intelligence but you have done so in such a passive aggressive and indirect way that I can't understand why you are insulting my intelligence.

As fans we don't have access to injury information, practices, a players knowledge of the playbook, discipline issues or any other stuff that may factor into playing time.
    Basically we don't know ****.
I'll trust the coaches over some fans opinion every day.

Because Jones and Harrison have the exact same stats with Jones getting less snaps and IMO he has looked better then Harrison so far. For a run defense to be good you have to have great DEs in the 3-4 and 10 million a year for one is right on par with the rest of the league. Cam Thomas got more snaps at the beginning of the season when it has been well documented rookie DEs struggle in the 3-4 but Tuitt ended the season as the starter. Gilbert has grown into a solid RT and in no way shape or form is Adams on his level. And to even suggest we should take Bell off the field for Williams is crazy to me. Yeahwhen Bell needs a breather sure but other then that no Bell is the best all around back in the league and maybe the best at running the ball this year. Also a coach is always going to put out what he feels is the best possible team as his job is on the line.

Heyward is the 10th highest paid DE in the NFL. The others are all 10 sack players. So no it is not on par with the rest of the league. I know he is a good player and was pissed off he didn't start in his 2nd season but coaches know best.

Gilbert was the worst OL for the Steelers last year allowing one sack every 87 snaps per SD. Adams one every 112 snaps but "isn't in Gilbert's league." EVERYONE is in Gilbert's league. You sound very arrogant ie. coaches who make personnel decisions based on "pedigree."

Bell is a great RB. Deangelo Williams is 32 years old and the second leading rusher in the NFL. A lot of credit for Bell's and Williams' success should go to Haley and an improved OL.

Your opinion is that Bell should get 25+ touches a game when the last time he played he injured his leg? Tomlin won't know his game condition until he plays. There has been little drop off in the running game with Deangelo or did you miss his 3 TD performance?

Which one of Jones 3 sacks in 3 seasons makes you think he is the next star OLB?

    "Than" is used for comparison.

    "Then" is used regarding time.

I'll bet you will really trust the coaches when they actually win a playoff game.

Why are you reading a message board that is literally nothing but the opinions of people who are not Steelers coaches?

Do you think the 6M per year contracts to Gilbert, Allen and Mitchell were justified... trick question! Your opinion means nothing!
