Coaches Speak/Tomlinisms

Listening to Marvin Lewis this morning he called out Andy Dalton to be more of a (rhymes w/sick) and to get into his teammates faces. Obviously Marvin doesn't have quite the record that MT does but he has basically run out of motivational quotes that can keep his team intense. It's actually something new for him and will either light a fire under Dalton or will truely show who he is.

Now my Point. Tomlinisms - We have all heard them. When he said they need to unleash hell the results were nothing there of but actually quite the opposite. When he says the Standard is the Standard we all seen that it doesn't hold water. I'm not harping on him I just don't see what these statements really accomplish. Just something to shovel to the media? It seems like everything these days is so politically correct and I am really surprised at what Marvin said. Really out of character for the guy. Does anyone think Tomlin would ever say something that drastic to the media?

I don't think we know what is said behind closed doors. May not be in his nature to call players out publicly. I could be way off on this, but just because we don't hear it, doesn't mean it isn't said.
