I thought you just said if a player isn’t getting it done they sit. So buggs sits and then you complain that he should be starting?

The limitations forced by the CBA are what they are. So unpadded practices is where you teach and train. Padded are where you apply and perfect. Let's take the issues at ILB and running plays for example. Now if it is unpadded you really can't run 7 on 7 and physically engage each other but you can work on play recognition and roles. The offense can huddle up and call a play that the defense doesn't know. The defense then can call the play they think counters that. You snap the ball the back makes his cut and you see where Bush is and you see where Schobert is and get them to understand why they are doing that. That way when you get pads on you can run that play and be in position.

Another problem for the last couple of years is 3rd and long or 3rd and forever. If you are playing zone on obvious passing downs your job is to watch your zone not stare at the QB in the backfield. For non mobile QB's the percentage of running for the 1st down is low but guys continously abandon their zone responsibility so they can K.O. the quarterback. That's a coaching issue.

pretty hard to simulate a 300lb lineman blocking you at the second level without actually doing it.
You’re point about 3rd and long conversions is a league wide problem. It’s a function of the lack of practice and rules created to protect the offense.

"During Mike Tomlin’s tenure as Pittsburgh Steelers head coach, you can count on one hand the number of games the team played as ugly as last Sunday’s humiliating loss to the Cincinnati Bengals."

Ok now count the number of games that the team has played down to their competition. I bet you need more than just one hand.

Those are the challenges that they have to work with. The alternative is that you waste valuable padded practice time screaming about hand placement, ball protection, coverage responsibilities.

So the message here is since the Steelers stink so bad we're just going to lay around, be lazy and relax for a while instead of correcting the concerns?

What a great message to send to the team.

Good. I’m glad he said it. I hate coaches that sugar coat it by saying we are already looking to the next game. They need to wallow in that loss a bit.

While there are certainly teams that we have lost to in the past that were more competitive than their records might indicate, it doesn't account for every such loss and my original point about needing more than one hand to count such games is valid. Unless your claim is that every sub .500 team that we have lost to in the recent years were actual sb contenders.

Yep then you got a rub their nose in it sometimes so they know that they’ve done something wrong. Some dogs never learn though.

Buggs is their best option at NT. This is not debatable.

so which is it? He plays despite the fact he’s not getting it done or you bench him for someone else? You don’t get to play it both ways

I'm not. I said he should have played last week. He's not great but he's easily the best they've got.

That can be a liability as well if his best attempts mess others up as well.

    I actually have 2 agree with Maddog78 this time.:puking 3:LoL.
While He's not good ....You see Him not being out there was worse.
I actually thought Buggs would turn out pretty good, but he had problem issues in Bama...I thought getting paid, and being a pro would clean that up....apparently Not.

You're the one intimating that you would like to rub a total stranger's nose in **** because he disagrees with you on a football message board, not me.

    Have you tried decaf?
