Just to play devils advocate -

I wonder what would have happened if we drafted Shawn Andrews instead of Ben (which was widely reported as Cowher’s preference).

 

he was good in the regular season when he had Ben, AB and that all pro line, not to mention a top 10 defense most years. Still wasnt good enough to not lose to bottom dwellers a few too many times. Thats always frustrated me about Tomlin’s teams: they seemed to believe their own hype too much and overlooked teams with bad records. Just the polar opposite of how Noll approached games.

NFL can be a whacky league from week to week. Playing down to competition happens and although it is annoying it’s not uncommon. The playoff record on the other hand should have gotten him fired years ago. Let’s hope ownership’s loyalty pays off this season…

 

On a side note I think I have found someone in this thread that dislikes MT more than me…….

I wasn't aware Cowher was the GM and built those teams all by himself, if it was all up to Cowher he would've passed on drafting Ben .

i hope so. I know what your saying but it seemed to happen to Tomlin too aften: 2 or three times a season? I know it happened under Cowhers watch too but not to this extent. Under Noll it just about never happened.

Cowher seriously didnt want him…it was either a Rooney or GM that overruled him.
