If Tomlinites want to live in their delusions, they're free to do so. I live in reality. While accomplishing 3 playoff wins between 2011-2021 despite leading the NFL with 52 pro bowl appearances, we sat back and watched NE win 3 sbs. Also, we're watching a KC dynasty that Pittsburgh should be having since we have such a "hof" coach and all. Belichick and Reid build their winners, they don't rely on having veteran established sb ready teams waiting on them.

Funny, Andy Reid hasn't had a losing season since coming to KC. Except he has 3 rings to his resume.

 

Why has Tomlin had two different playoff careers?

 

I for one am happy that, after 16 seasons of being a HC in the NFL, Tomlin has finally learned enough things that the team hasn't looked stupid in their last 3 games *and* won games.

I'm also glad to see Tomlin apologists have had the patience to have waited 16 years so they would be able to say "See?? Once Rooney made Tomlin fire his OC, now Tomlin is good!".

May that trend continue, and we win a playoff game sometime in the near/distant future. Hopefully the Tomlin apologists are still alive to remind us how great it is to have finally won a playoff game under Tomlin.

A future hof sb winning qb who was already 5-1 in the postseason with two AFC championship games and a sb win, two future defensive players of the year, a hof defensive coordinator who would give Tomlin a top 5 defense six years in a row, and a team that top 10 on both sides of the ball in 2006. Name another coach in NFL history that inherited that much.

When all of that started leaving so did Tomlin's playoff success. He's been getting exposed since 2011. Should have been fired in 2015, but Rooney is clearly okay with mediocrity. After all, he hired a man who went 31st against the pass in MN as defensive coordinator in 2006.

Colbert replenished that cupboard with the best offense in Steelers history and two hof offensive lineman, a hof offensive line coach and a bona fide offensive coordinator who led Pittsburgh to four top 10 offenses between 2014-2018. Pitt also led the league in pro bowl appearances with 52 between 2011-2021 which kills the narrative that Tomlin couldn't get what he wanted cause of his race. That's what I was told by his minions for years, but the numbers just don't agree. Tomlin cannot build his own winner and it should be obvious to anybody.

 

So 5-2 vs 3-8 is not two different playoff careers?
