Hello everyone! AQL here giving you some news that, while no longer new, still impacts the Steelers... indirectly anyway. First and foremost, happy forthcoming Labor Day. NowDue to contractual disagreements, the Houston Texans have traded the number one overall pick in Jadeveon Clowney to the Seattle Seahawks.

Now, given the fact that we do face Seattle in Week 2, this could potentially be an issue. While Clowney has been oft injured, he is a destructive force all the same. This also gives Seattle more power along the front seven; spearheaded by Bobby Wagner.

    Thoughts?!

Stinks we have to go up against him in week 2.

Maybe he gets off to a slow start in his new system.

I am not too sure NB. Seems to me Clowney was built from the ground up for the 4-3. Myles Garrett always seemed to be more of a 3-4 OLB.

Why can't the Steelers be more proactive
in player aquistion? I am not talking Clowney,
I am talking other players in general that can help our team.

    Two word ‘Cap Space’

The Steelers build through the draft for the most part and prefer to pay the talent they have developed in house. Big free agent splashes rarely lead to sustained success and are often the hallmark of desperate teams that have drafted badly.

In fairness the Steelers did pick up Barron, Nelson and Moncrief in the off season to shore up some needs on the roster. ILB and Corner had been killing them for two years.

As for Clowney, do we really fear the Seahawks at Heinz field? I’d be fairly confident of a W here regardless of who they have signed. They have a mediocre roster and Clowney is only offsetting the loss of Clark who they traded to Kansas.

I am not even talking big time FA's I am talking about possible
reserves to shore up depth or like they did with Hawkins aquire future draft choice. Our scouting
of opposing teams rosters need to expand. Do you ever see the Pats sitting tight?
No there always exploring to see if they can make their team better.
