Sucks we didnt get to see what Austin could do this year.

I wonder if they will spend a pick on a WR, 2nd rd is where they usually do that and they have two.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they snagged Addison in the first and paired him up with his old friend kp.

Thats what I was thinking, if they grabbed another dominant WR to pair with Pickens, look out.

If Austin pans out, you don’t have to extend DJ.

I am excited about the draft as long as Tomlin lets the front office handle the draft, no more undersized LB's, no more tweeners, no more reaches and hopefully no more Canada.

We have so many needs we should go back to best player available , the cupboard is bare we have very little depth on the roster.

I so wanted to see Austin on the field this year. Having anything resembling production from the slot would have made a big difference this year.

Doessn't it also mean if the player is good, we lose one year of control? First round picks have that option that can be picked up affordably, right?

Still a good thing, getting first pick of second round, but it's not all roses compared to pick 31.

I swear if this was car forum some here would want to put tires and rims on a car thats burning oil with a worn out tranny and very high mileage on the big block engine.
We need better players on the Oline, or KP will not have time to launch all these bombs . Our ILB need improvement , corners, DL right now there's Heyward and not much else.

I hope having Austin for next season stops any thought on this

CB, OL, DL, and ILB - three could be grabbed. I'm hoping Tae Crowder helps with the ILB need.

Is Devin Bush a bust as an overall number 10 pick? And didn’t we trade two lower picks to move up?

Not a fan of prioritizing "needs" when drafting. I feel like that's when teams stretch and make poor picks. We've done it multiple times now with DBs and ILBs. Unless there's a position that is just stacked with depth, draft the player you think is the most likely to live up to his draft position or exceed it, regardless of position. We could improve pretty much everywhere aside from QB and RB... Would include OLB as well, as Watt and Highsmith are solidified starters and impact players. You can always fill some immediate needs via free agency.

All depends how the board breaks. If the Steelers are on the clock and they have WR ranked much higher than any other position they will likely take him. They rarely extend the position, need to keep it stocked.

And unfortunately they learned nothing from Austin this season.

    Disagree on Austin.

Way too early to give up on him. That said, some competition would be nice for certain.

Ideal scenario is if someone gives us a 3rd or 2nd for DJ. We draft Addison and have Austin and Sims in the mix next year.

Last I looked, the Texans were down 7 in the waning moments of the game. I'm shocked they pulled out a win. Since last week, everything broke the Steelers way except one missed FG by the Jests' kicker. Had that game ended in a tie, we would have gone 9 for 9 and got a playoff spot. Instead, we got 2 wins, 3 of 4 losses by teams that needed to lose to give us the last playoff spot and two Bears' losses and one Texans win to get the #32 draft pick).

I never said give up on him. I said they don’t know what they have in him so they very well may draft a WR.

As I said, if Austin pans out, you can part ways with DJ when his contract is up.

Those are the two in the trenches that I want the most... I'd be totally ok if we "reached" and got Torrence at 17 and picked Ika at 32... It's likely not going to this route, but damn I'd be thrilled.

Yeah me too. We need to anchor both of our lines and those two would do it.

The front office always handles the draft. Nothing has changed here.
