To be fair TDs on this team are few and far between. His numbers are way down, but so are everybody's. Like I said it's hard to really evaluate anyone (even Chase) because the offense sucks soo bad. I think if the Steelers can get any sort of a consistent offense going after the break you will start to see DJ's numbers improve.

Olszewski, Boykin, and Sims can fill in for Claypool plus we also have Friermuth and Gentry, I dont think Claypool will be missed all that much to be honest, but I will say that he is a talented receiver but the fit was not there because I would choose to have pickens and Johnson as my 1-2, that made Claypool expendable and we got a 2nd round draft pick so I am not against the trade

There’s another key reason why it wasn’t DJ. His dead money if traded would have cost us a net $10 million vs. the 2022 cap. To absorb that immediate cap hit, we would have had to cut someone else AND would not have been able to trade for W. Jackson. His contract extension made him almost impossible to trade.

    GMDot should have known that.

Claypool wasn't really working that good in the slot, he also wasn't that good of a blocker, in his third year he still struggles to come up with the contested catches.

I think he will always struggle with those. The guys who can do that usually show that ability before they even get to the NFL. That was already clearly a weakness in his game at Notre Dame.

I have always said about 97% of wrs look good because of the Qb. The other percentage look good with any Qb(because they are that good), or look bad with any Qb(because they are just that bad).
    Of course....many disagree.

I would have traded DJ in the offseason.. I would not have given him the new deal

Pickens, Claypool, Austin, Oz, Sims and Boykin was my preference
