I agree with you. I think he will definitely be a part of our future plans. Now lets focus on beating the Chargers.

He was fine, though he had a lot of help. I'd still be a lot more comfortable if they have Gilbert back next week, or at least Feiler.

Do we need Gilbert next year? Here is a better question:

"Will Gilbert be able to play a full season next year?"

He has not done that in three seasons. Furthermore, he is going to be 31 next season. Given his injury history, it is difficult to say whether or not Gilbert will be needed. Yes, he still can play at a high level but also misses quite a bit of playing time.

Add Chukwuma's rapid development and that in itself only compounds this issue even more.

Gilbert is officially on notice...... feiler and chuks have filled in and the o-line hasn't missed a beat, and until Gilbert plays a full season, the steroid saga will be a black cloud hanging over his head

Gilbert isn't helping himself, 2019 is the last year of his contract at 6 million. He's in danger of getting cut, too many injuries, and the OL playing well without him.

Had TE blocking help on every pass play.

I think we have not run as well since Gilbert has been out but I could be wrong as I haven't checked the stats. Regardless Gilbert is a load in the run game.

That simply is not correct. Often, there was no tight end next to him at all.

He did have help on most pass plays. Conner was with him quite a bit, too.

Fleir also played well too. Not looking good for Gilbert he’s not a bad player but, he is all to often hurt. If they find a cheaper, younger, healthier player, it usually doesn’t turn out well

There are other factors, such as whether or not they are willing to re-sign Foster and how cheaply they can get him. If Foster goes, Feiler would likely be in a competition with Finney to replace him. I actually think Feiler would be the better option at guard. If they keep Foster, then they could cut Gilbert and go into camp with Feiler and Okorafor competing to take his place.
