Christian Gonzalez's Season is Over

I am among those fans who would have rather seen the Steelers draft Gonzalez in the first round. He had been playing well for the Patriots, certainly better than Patrick Peterson or Levi Wallace, but he has a torn labrum that will end his season.

 

I was with You on that.

 

That's too bad for Gonzalez he was named the AFC Rookie of the Month for September.

 

The best corner coming out. And showing why. Shame.

All the while our 2nd rounder sits and waits for more playing time, because puppet Austin said he's not ready while both of our starting corners are getting abused...

 

I would have been happier with Gonzalez in the 1st, and JPJ in the 2nd, but of course that's just Me.

 

To me it wasn't even close. Witherspoon was hands down the best CB in the 2023 draft class

 

And he's playing like it. More everything than Gonzales (tackles, defensed passes, etc.) (1 interception each, but Witherspoon 97 yd return, Gonzales 0), and in one less game.
You look at Gonzales, Porter, Witherspoon, and Forbes, and they're all pretty comparable.

 

With Weidl coming from the Eagles, it's no surprise they chose the OL in round one over CB.
