ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. has Pittsburgh selecting the Missouri product 30th overall (guess who was 32nd)?

    Thoughts?

i don't want to reach for a need. i'd rather get the 2nd best safety with our pick than the 5th or 6th best pass rusher because i think from there to the 10th or 11 rated pass rusher there isn't that much difference. know what i mean? :smiley1::cool:

    I do.

Should Jabrill Peppers also be there, I would take him instead for BPA purposes.

If they draft the 5th or 6th best pass rusher it's because the other top pass rushers are off the board, they drafted the 4th or 5th best CB in Artie Burns in 2016 .

Lightning does not strike twice all that often.

Should their options be gone, BPA will be applied.

I don't see how Harris is the 5th or 6th best OLB personally. But I'm separating OLBs from DEs and maybe you are not.

As for Safety, Hooker and Adams will be long gone imo, so we'd be looking at maybe Peppers and ???. I like Obi too, but seems like a early/mid 2nd to me.

I think we will end up with an edge rusher or a TE. That is just my gut.

Me too, not what the Steelers need. But hey it would be an upgrade over Mitchell LOL. Hooker is the target if I am the Steelers.
If he slides, and we have seen this happen before. I am pulling the trigger on a deal. I have seen how KC works,
he will have to have ART II permission. I hope ART can pull the trigger.

Hooker will go top 10...and certainly not lower than 12. You think he is the next Ed Reed....then I would have no problem trading up to get him...but its going to cost a lot... A LOT to get there.

he and adams will most likely be gone but ya never know. guys have dropped before. if he makes it to the late teens it may be worth a shot. so much depends now on ben and if he's serious about retirement. that could change everything and this ain't the best year to need a qb.

who you liking hack out of the safety group?

During Senior Bowl practices yesterday, Mayock was saying Desmond King (Iowa) might be an intriguing safety prospect. I wonder if teams would consider that?

I just read where King said that teams have already approached him about a move to safety and he is open to the suggestion and is confident he can make the switch.

Would improve our KR abilities as well if the Steelers went that route.

Depends on which team elects to draft him in addition to the style that team wants him to play.

Personally, I would not mind having King but for me, Melifonwu fits Tomlin's draft philosophy to the "T".

LOVE LOVE HOOKER..a lot of the top guys......but my pick (assuming no Hooker) is Kai Nacua is a good value later in the draft.

Melifonwu is quickly rising up the ranks as my top guy. The other two safeties are unattainable imo so I'm not even putting them into consideration. I know some guys fall, but they both go top 15. And there's no way they are moving that far up with QB shooting to the top of the need list in 2018. Why use the capitol on a Safety when you know you are going to need all the picks you can for 2018.
