Here is my mock which involves trading down, which I hope we do. The trade involves trading down to Minnesota's 25th pick and then picking up Minnesota's 3rd (pick 83) and 4th (120). This works out based on the point values and Minnesota has multiple picks in the 1st and 4th and has been rumored to be interested in moving up, so I believe they'd do it. My draft is pretty defense heavy, but I'd love to hear your guys thoughts, criticisms, likes and dislikes. Thanks!

Round 1, Pick 25 - Deandre Hopkins, WR, Clemson - The guy is a playmaker and would contribute instantly and could be a good replacement for Sanders should he leave after this season. Doesn't seem to have been involved with the hotel room issue at the combine, so I don't think that would be anything that would keep us away.

Round 2, Pick 48 - Arthur Brown, ILB, Kansas St. - Might be wishful thinking to think he'll fall to us, but here's hoping. The guy plays all over the field and is solid in blitzing, in coverage and against the run. He's too hard to pass on if he's here given the uncertainty about Spence. Brown will fit nicely next to Timmons in 2014 and will contribute on ST next year. If Brown isn't there and Minter is, I'd take Minter here.

Round 3, Pick 79 - Shamarko Thomas, SS, Syracuse - We need to address depth at Safety with Troy and Clark getting near the end. Plays with reckless abandon and is very physical at the line of scrimmage. Seems like a great fit for our D and would really benefit from learning from Troy for a year or two. A very high character guy.

Round 3, Pick 83 - John Simon, OLB, Ohio St. - Another position of need based on Harrison leaving. Simon is a high motor guy who was a DE in college so went against Tackles, not Tight Ends. Seems like a prototypical Steelers 3-4 OLB who can contribute on ST right away. LeBeau loves his Buckeyes and I think we nab another one here.

Round 4, Pick 115 - LeVeon Bell, RB, Michigan St. - A bruising runner who slides into round 4 and we are the beneficiaries. I know he seems similar to Dwyer and Redman, but I believe we won't be able to pass on him if he falls to us here. If we don't go Bell, then Stepfan Taylor from Stanford or Marcus Lattimore from South Carolina would be a potential RB pick in this spot as well.

Round 4, Pick 120 - Joe Kruger, DE, Utah - We need to address depth at DE as I think Ziggy will be gone after this season. Kruger has it in the bloodlines and can add some bulk and be a very fundamentally sound 3-4 DE in our scheme.

Round 5, Pick 150 - Brandon Jenkins, OLB/DE, Florida St. - We continue to add depth by taking Jenkins who is a 1st round talent but had a severe foot injury that caused him to miss 2012 season. At this point, I think we can take a flyer on him and add a guy who can either stand up as an OLB or potentially play DE (even if only on passing downs).

Round 6, Pick 186 - Josh Boyce, WR, TCU - I think we need to add 2 WRs in this draft as Plax, Cotch and Sanders are all potentially gone after next year. Boyce is a guy the Steelers had in for a visit and is a very versatile WR, able to play out wide and in the slot. He is a good blocker in the run game and also gets a lot of YAC.

Round 6, Pick 206 - Will Davis, CB, Utah St. - The Steelers had this guy in for a visit and I think he is an interesting late round target. I'm not sold on Victorian or Curtis Brown at this point and we need to consider life after Ike, which will probably be after this season. A very good athlete and plays very disciplined, I think he can hang around for a year (maybe PS) and be ready to be a contributor in 2014.

Round 7, Pick 223 - Rontez Miles, FS, California (PA) - As mentioned above, we need to address both FS and SS in this draft as I don't feel Clark and Troy's replacements are currently on the roster. Worth a flyer on this guy even if it only is because he has a Steelers tattoo!!

Yeah, I know it might be wishful thinking to think Brown will be there at #48. Another thought could be to take Brown at #25. Then take Woods at #48. So basically swapping Hopkins for Woods, which may be a little more realistic.

I don't think Brown will be there in the 2nd or Bell in the 4th.
Not sure who I want later in the first.
Escobar at TE is intriguing, but probably too high at 48. Would love to have that 6'6" pass catching te to team up with Miller and Spaeth.
In the 3rd I would look at jj wilcox and Bell.

I like it, heck, just Hopkins, Brown, Thomas, Simon and Bell would be awesome.

I'm not a big fan of taking a WR with a deep WR class but if that's what you're gonna do I think you picked the right guy. I like your ILB in the 2nd but your choice of S in the 3rd isn't my favorite. I'd preferr Phillip Thomas.

I really don't think Bell will be there in the 4th. He very well could be a top 3 RB taken. I really Like Kruger but we might be able to get him later in the draft. Speaking of later in the draft I really don't like Simon so early. He's quickly becoming a board favorite But I feel anything before rd 6 for him is too early. Instead I really like Brandon Jenkins you have in the 5th. I understand your thinking on Jenkins as its the same as mind and I even had him there in an earlier draft. If DE/OLB is a need you're attempting to get I'd seriously consider switching the Simon & Jenkins picks. If Will Davis is there in the 6th he'd probably be BPA.

Overall I like it and if we were able to actually get these players we'd have a good draft.

If our draft actually went that way, I would be pretty good with it. I really like the trade scenario. It's realistic, and the value works better for us than staying at #25 IMO. I've listed my thoughts on the specific picks below, including their CBS/NFLDraftScout "big board" rankings as one indicator of where those players are projected to go. Good, well thought out mock overall IMO.

1(25) - Hopkins (CBS #41) - He will likely be here at #25, and if not, Keenan Allen (CBS #34 - who I like better) probably will be.
2(48) - Brown (CBS #36) - He's the least likely to be there when we pick IMO. However, Kevin Minter (CBS #46) may be, and if we stick with the ILB position Sio Moore (CBS #71) will almost certainly be there, and he's a very good player.
3(79) - S. Thomas (CBS #113) - I am not a big Thomas fan, but I could live with him here. I prefer Shawn Williams (CBS #115) at SS or Baccari Rambo (CBS #104) at FS here if we go safety.
3(83) - Simon (CBS #118) - Love it. If he goes earlier, and I think he will go in the 60-90 range, I like Chase Thomas (CBS #112) or Trevardo Williams (CBS #125)
4(115) - Bell is listed as CBS #73, and it doesn't look good for him here. However, Stephan Taylor (CBS #116), who I like WAY better than Bell, or Joseph Randle (CBS #127) may be.
4(120) - Kruger is listed as CBS #214. I haven't really watched him, so I can't give an opinion. We need to get depth at the position though, so that works. I will say that, based on rankings that I have seen, it looks like pick #120 may be high for Kruger, specially with the talent that will likely be on the board at that spot.
5(150) - Jenkins (CBS #286) - After watching every full game of Jenkins that's available on youtube, I have zero interest in him before our 6th round comp pick.
6(186) - Boyce (CBS #169) - Works for me. He may be the most underrated slot receiver in the draft.
6(206) - Will Davis (CBS #164) - I would take Davis at #150 instead of Jenkins, and then maybe take Jenkins here. However, I may like other guys better than Jenkins here. Earl Wolff is listed at CBS #238. I personally think he goes in the top 150, but if he's actually here I go with him over Jenkins.
7(223) - Rontez Miles (CBS #218). At this point I would be happy to get Miles if we haven't gotten 2 safeties prior to this point.

Im all about Rontez Miles!!! look it up he is BADDDDDDDDASS HE can play and with all of his other awards he was the special teams player of the year 2 or 3 times....Just for that he's worth a 7th but his ability to play would make him a steal at 7! (if he's there)

Substitute Keenan Allen for Hopkins in the 1st and I'm okay with it. I know Allen has an injury concern and is not the fastest straight line guy, but he runs well after the catch, has great hands and is a tough player. Reminds me a little of Anquan Boldin.
