Since the Eagles drafted Jalen Hurts and seem to be growing tired of Carson Wentz, would he be an option for the Steelers in the future? Maybe he turns out to be our post-Ben option and become the Steelers' version of "Drew Brees to the Saints." Keep in mind he would be 28 going into the 2021 season and may give us a good 10 years. His rookie year he was often compared to Ben due to his size and style of play. He even beat us his rookie year. If we have the right tools around him him as well as a strong OL, we could come out ahead.

    No.

Injury prone and fumble prone to boot. Hard pass. Better to look at the 2021 Class than to throw money at an unknown assuming Mason does not pan out.

This sounds crazy, but I'd rather have Andy Dalton than Wentz as a stop gap until Steelers can find the next franchise QB. Dalton has experience and success against the Ravens and Browns.

Thought you believed in young Mason. Are you turning on him?!

From a talent standpoint, absolutely but he just signed a 4 year 128 million extension. Takes the Steelers out of the running.

Plus there’s an injury history there. He’d have to stay on the field this season to consider it.

Dont think the Eagles are tiring of him. Hurts is an insurance policy. Wentz is injury prone and you need to be comfortable with what you have behind him. Getting rid of Wentz now after giving him that contract would be complete madness.

I’d prefer the Steelers to develop their own guy, be it Rudolph or somebody else. Get a bridge QB like Dalton in the interim if necessary

In respect to the injury prone label his injuries are like 98% due to how he plays the game. He plays it like a football player and gets injured like one. If he played it like a Brady, Brees or like Kurt Warner his injuries would drop to near zero. Its kinda like Ben the way he plays is why he is good but its also why he gets hurt.

Consider it? Yes, when managing a team, I think everything should be considered. I probably have a better chance of making the team than this scenario working out.

I hope not. So far, I think he's been set up to fail with poor coaching. Steelers are lacking at HC and OC.

Who is Matt Canada? Is he Ron Mexico's cousin? Just kidding.... I hope the hiring of Canada at QB coach helps Rudolph.

Being widely reputed as an Offensive Guru in the College Football World is not something that is so easily earned. Yes, he was fired from LSU in 2018 but LSU was dysfunctional at that time. Keep in mind this is also when Joe Burrow was there as well.

Here is an article about the whole fiasco:

One more aspect; Matt Canada does something Randy does not; work to the strengths of the Offense and not just one player. In addition, Canada is a far superior teacher of the basics than Matt Symmes was considering Symmes was the "QB Coach" even though he holds the title of Offensive Assisant on the Steelers main page.

Ben is under contract thru 2021, so I would like to see how this would work . So I guess the Steelers would trade for Wentz with that contract .

I would take Wentz to replace Ben when he leaves. I think he is better than Dalton but always getting sidelined.

I am hoping to see Paxton Lynch in some preseason games this year. I think he will make a believer out of a few fans this offseason.

I don't know if the NFL could just skip the Preseason and go straight to regular season if thy delay the start of the season?

Dalton want to start in 2020. That's why the Bungles just released him. Not gonna play back up behind Ben for a season.

I agree, until we get the cloud over our heads to go away not much will change that much in either direction. IMO>

Fill in the blank: The reason we haven't had a dedicated and qualified QB coach when there were two QBs with zero NFL experience as our last line of defense to backing up Ben was due to_____________________________________.

a} There was really no need for one as RF was obviously doing a great job

    b) Couldn't wait any longer for a coach to be available from Maryland that someone's son could recommend

    c) Coaching staff felt all QB's on the team didn't need someone to be their coach as they had nothing further to improve on

    d) The same problem that will keep the team from going anywhere in the playoffs

    e) other ( please elaborate)

Wishing Coach Canada the best but will it make a difference overall? Seems we are at times reactive vs proactive. Maybe this bears fruit.
