Caption This! Week 6

so true I was waiting for the obligatory stadium is half empty post last night.

 

I was talking about the first movie. I though it was horrible

 

It's campy and has to be viewed through the prism of that time period. If I remember correctly I think the theatrical cut was to appease the studio and did no favors to the plot. For me it was a lot like watching Disney's attempt to make John Carter and then reading the first book and trying to deal with an author at the turn of the century writing science fiction and trying to make things that we can relate to seem other worldly. The Tharks having rifles that can fire a hundred miles away for example. Herbert's Dune is just a great series and setting it aside the movies are fun.

 

I will have to watch more than the first one. I didn't know there was more than one
