Put on your Black and Gold colored glasses and read this article. All troubles in the world will vanish and our collective hope for the Stairway to Seven materializing will suddenly become reality. Truth be told, Steelers rarely achieve lofty expectations and seem to respond better when left for dead and forgotten by the talking heads. As the label for an interesting red wine called "The Pessimist" reads: "A pessimist is never disappointed". I think our good friend HeinzMustard is the chief vintner at that winery. ;)

Steelers seem to be everyone’s dark horse to be sneaky good this season, to the point where they are probably no longer under the radar. Most analysts are qualifying this by saying that it is contingent on Ben being back to what he was pre injury which is reasonable.

we are only under the radar with analysts...…. I guarantee you that there isn't a single team on our schedule that is overlooking us..... they already know what the defense is capable of and now, with competent qb play, they all know that their defense can't rest either...
The only time we really get into trouble is when the team starts eating up their own press clippings and gets overconfident, forgetting that the game is won on the field and not in the papers

They've been a media darling for a couple years now. Trendy pick.

Rams will struggle in that division. They have a couple of proven star players but their overall roster is a mess, holes everywhere.

The predictions about the Rams have me a bit puzzled. They share a division with the 49ers and Seahawks, not to mention a Cardinals team that may put up some points. I think they can give Seattle a run for second, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if the Rams battle with the Cards for last place.

Being the realist, not the pessimist, I don't see anything that will change with this team such as:

    1. losing to teams we are favored over, especially teams with poor QBs that dominate us twice at home in the same year.
    2. losing to teams we are favored over east of the Mississippi
    3. losing because we are unprepared especially early in the season.
    4. Poor coaching and time management (see last years posts, there are countless many on this).

Until we change our tendencies to play like this, nothing has changed. I am a "show me" type and don't bite on any bs hype. Until I see it, I don't believe it. Some things never change and we'll see again this year if this is true or not. I'll be pleasantly surprised if we get a win over the Giants who we are favored over at their place.

    Sigh.

ravens go 15-1 with Lamar throwing 5k yards 40 tds and a first round exit.

    Steelers wild card at 9-7.

steelers vs buccaneers in the SB where Brady throws 500 yards, wins #7 and Ben retires the next year.

Oh we win that SB surprisingly... then
    we all die. the end

    First round exit...:lolol:

Just don't see the Steelers giving up that many yards to Marsha. The ground game is the Achilles heel imo.

Ben won't retire if he wins the SB or even sits on ir next year. I see another contract extension for him.

Rams seek revenge for 1979. I would love if we somehow played Brady and the Bucs (not to be confused with my beloved BUCS who really suck) and beat them by 50. How great would it be if the world is back to normal (whatever that means anymore) and the Super Bowl is like a coming out event for the country and our boys are in it.

That Giants game in two weeks has me very uneasy. The steelers should absolutely be winning that one but I just know something will go wrong.

It's the early week 1 Monday night game. Most NFL fans will be watching so I hope you are not right. I'm actually pretty confident about it.

I heard on a podcast one of those betting guys had the Steelers winning the Super Bowl, I think their odds are 25-1.

Since we're in fantasy land (though 25-1 is shockingingly close to true-beliver land!!) What odds to do you on a prop bet on us winning the AFC on a strip off a delayed blitz by hamilton with Bush running it back for a TD.... 30-1?

Ben usually starts off slow & too cocky for the big play. If it's mnf, Ben likes primetime.

    Hey SteelersFanIrl.

I have written about this numerous times over this off-season. Yes, Ben's health is the Big Elephant in the room. With Ben we could very well bring home Ring #7. Without him, we will most likely see a re-run of last season's movie. That is why i was so adamant about going after Andy Dalton. Again for the record, he is proven winner. He has very good career statistics. He knows our division. He has handled the rats and the browns with great success in his career. He comes with no "baggage". He seems like a good guy. He seems to be a team player.

Some here stated that to forget it. His price tag was to be too high and that he did want to be a back-up. Wrong and Wrong. The cowturds got him on the cheap for three million and he is backing up Dak. I heard he chose Dallas because it was close to home. I say baloney. Every man has his "price". The Steelers could have "courted" him. I cannot imagine that he would not want a place where he could be the potential starter in a year or two depending on how Ben's contract goes. The Steelers are a proven winner. He will be behind Dak for along time if age is the only consideration.

The cowturds are what they are. Same BS again. Predictable as August comes. Every year the cowturds are the center of attention for all NFL analysts. I am not sure what the infatuation is. They have won nothing in years. Everyday as I sporadically tune into the NFL Channel, or ESPN, as sure as the Sun will rise, I am just about guaranteed to see something cowturd related. I wish I could predict the lottery numbers with such confidence. I would be rich. It not so much Dallas that I could care less about. It is the media's lovefest for them.

As far as I can remember, this is the first time since the 70's that we are this complete of a team. We have a great opportunity here with the pieces that we have in place. Make no mistake about it. The Defense is set. The Offense looks real good. I mean real good. We are set IMO. However, if Ben has any kind of setback this will be a complete waste of talent IMO. Sorry to say that but we all know how critical the QB is to the team. The QB is the Main Cog. The team goes most of the time as does the QB. We saw this last year. We saw this with Cowher until we got Ben. Now, all of our eggs are in the "Ben Basket". If you ask me, the Steelers' Front office did a horrendous job with this. Poor planning, horrific, disgusting and totally unacceptable. If they think that Mason (who I like) or Duck or Lynch is going to lead us to Ring #7, they all need to give a urine sample. Man, I am getting fired-up thinking about this. I hope Ben is okay and it works out according to Management's plan.

Seriously, we have all the pieces in place 22/22. "O" and "D". Black and Gold!

Reacting to your title: Uh, what is the saying? From your lips to God`s ears. LOL.

I`m not expecting a complete "good Ben" because I do not think he can process what he sees as fast as he used to. Fixing his arm and losing weight will help some, but he is what he is, an older QB. If he has a pretty good year and the defense is as good as it was last year, then we are a definite playoff team.

Only upside with Super Bowl hopes intact is both Ben and the defense are better than expected. However, with Covid-19 out there, there is a chance of the unexpected. A playoff team could suddenly get derailed if their starting QB has to sit out due to suspected exposure to the virus. The SB win could be tainted for a team that wins.

Nightmare scenario for season: We do horribly and don`t make playoffs. Super Bowl: It`s Bucs vs Chiefs and Mahomes can`t play and Marsha gets another ring.

Seriously where are you people getting this stuff? This team as usual will underwhelm and struggle offensively and maybe make one playoff game and that's it. I've seen this movie many many many times before.

Playing the Bucs in the SB and winning by 50? In what imaginary world would that ever happen?
