For those of you who think the NFL is corrupt/rigged/ biased towards the Patriots.
I ask you this. The NFL is made up of 32 owners. That would mean they're all in this conspiracy together.
That would mean Dan Rooney and the Steelers were a part of this injustice. Dan Rooney a man of great honor and respect.
If you really believe this then why would you even support a team that's rigging games?
If you believe this nonsense you're peddling then don't tell me you don't think everyone of the owners is involved.
    It wouldn't work otherwise.

And try to stay on topic.

I'm not in the Conspiracy Club, but I don't think the quoted statement necessarily is true. In fact, I'm not sure that any of the owners would have to be involved. Hypothetically, of course .. if Goodell's mission is to increase the NFL's market and revenue, why would he require the other owners' cooperation to achieve that end? He could be his own little conspiracy leader.

My conspiracy theory was that the NFL was colluding to help LA with their teams and insure an all-LA SB!
    Looks like I was wrong!

    Or.................am I?

He works for the owners. They're not standing for one team getting all the breaks.
If they thought there was any shady business going on they'd fire his ass.

I think any talk of a conspiracy with the owners complicit is silly. However, I do feel a bit disgruntled as a fan that our team's ownership has ratified a $40 million/year extension for Goodell despite some pretty obvious (and numerous) examples of inconsistency and flat out incompetence by league management. My own personal thought is that they've given Goodell far too much credit for past revenue increases that were not his doing, and are not seeing the signs of deterioration of the league's standing under his watch. I think we're going to see some cracks in the shield in the next couple of years that will have the NFL owners feeling some buyers' remorse. I'm not a Jerry Jones fan, but he seems to have a good BS detector when it comes to business, and I think he sees the cracks. Just my view.

I don't think it's rigged, but I do feel sometimes refs like certain teams more and just may, sway some things lol.

If I was a ref in a Steelers superbowl game and 1 call decided the steelers winning or losing, you bet your butt I would sway the call so Steelers could win.

    who cares about honor LOL

Getting a little off topic here. My reason for this thread is specifically that if you believe there's a conspiracy and the NFL is rigged then how can you continue to watch games and support a league that does this?

Whether you believe that it's all the owners conspiring together or it's just Roger Goodelle and the referees that are fixing games, either way the Steelers are involved by either the owners conspiring or by turning a blind eye to the conspiracy.

The only time I think there was any attempt to make sure of a team playing in and potentially winning the Super Bowl was after 911 because it just seemed to perfect of a scenario.

The thing I'll never get past is the mountain of evidence that was destroyed in the biggest coverup since Watergate.

There was zero logical reason to destroy it other than to keep it a secret. If the evidence was innocuous, and demonstrated that what New England did was minor, they would have released it to the public.

IDK if they covered it up out of favoritism, or more likely to protect the league's image. After all, if the evidence showed, as many suspect, a clear, organized and systemic mode of cheating going on for a long time, nothing short of the "death penalty" would satisfy the public. Vacate 3 Superbowls. Ban Bellicheck from football. Other coaches and possibly complicit players would face serious repercussions. And the league would lose a ton of credibility.

This is the same league that tried to cover/deny up CTE for a long time. Why? They could lose audience and sponsors.

The whole deflategate thing was a massive overreaction after the last cover up. They knew they were seen as covering up the last transgression, so went overboard prosecuting something that wasn't THAT bad in the grand scheme of things.

So no. I don't believe the league is favoring NE exactly. But their policies and actions have benefited them just the same. If there is funny business going on (as others have pointed out, it's rare if it happened at all to see NE be the victim of bad calls or officiated games), it's much more likely to be the actions of individuals and not a grand conspiracy.

Doesn't matter. This is our year.

As one of the main conspiracy people on here. Trust me, I've thought about this. I honestly think the league was good. Obviously the Patriots were cheating for Super Bowls years before but nobody knew. I think the league went sour in either 2010 or 2013. 2010 is very suspicious with the Saints winning a Super Bowl right after Katrina. Brees putting up god like numbers and nothing since. 2013 is definitely strange. The visa ads predicting the exact Super Bowl match-up all year. The lights going out. A bunch of 49ers players just retiring out of the blue afterwards. It's like they knew and wanted out. So imo it started around 2010-2013. Why? Maybe they knew the concussion stuff was upon us and trying to cash out. Team had already cheated for 3 Super Bowls and there's nothing they could do. If the truth ever got out it would be bigger than steroids to baseball.

As I told someone else, if you are going to indulge your paranoid delusions, at least get your facts right. Brees has done nothing since 2013? Seriously?

Oh, the destruction of the Spygate evidence was shady as hell. But as you said, it is far more likely that was done to protect the league's image after the fact. That is very different from fixing games, which just doesn't make sense. The league has far too much to lose.

I don't think there is a league wide conspiracy.

Apparently there are some weird trends with the Corrente ref crew though? Apparently, they statistically call more flags on the home team by a large margin. And they throw more flags in general compared to other crews. Something to look into maybe, but that is just bad officiating?

But ultimately the NY replay guys are the ones who overturned the call. The catch rule is bad and needs to be changes, thats about all there is to it.

There isnt a conspiracy. By saying that you are giving these refs and that ****ing idiot commissioner a compliment in being smart. They aren't. They are just stupid idiots who have no idea what the hell they are doing.

STEELER GLENN PLEASE READ AND REPLY, ITS LONG BUT I DID PUT PARAGRAPHS LOL, PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR HONEST OPINION AFTER YOU HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT IT

My take on it is this, First football is or actually was a great sport that a lot of people love, me included. I think as a man not trying to be sexist, you have that need for competition etc . You have grown UP watching as a kid and its a part of you, the need to root for your team ,talk shi* with your friends etc I think with the times the game has changed just like everything in life, they are softening the game and in a way I get it, i don't like it but I get it. I don't think the league really care about players health, they care more about the public relations side of it, since they got more women tuning in, and I know my wife and mom would not want their kids getting concussions etc. ENTER

I don't think they rig every game, but I do think they look at what is trending during the times and they help certain teams by giving them an advantage thru their refs.I don't think the refs have some bias as some think, they are just doing their job. For example, the year the Ravens won the super bowl, leading up to those playoffs they were terrible, then Ray Lewis said he was retiring, and he saw the LIGHT blah Blah, then they had the match up the Harbaugh brothers, that was marketing gold, so the Ravens out of nowhere kept getting all these pass interference calls which helped them beat a far superior Denver team that year. Know this for a fact,it doesn't take a lot to make a team win if you get a few calls here and there. Then at that sb the lights go out ,cmon man The game turns around becomes interesting and all the viewErs are tuned in to the end. Same with our SB with Jerome and Cowher . The Saints super bowl as well and to be honest with you all of them since probably the last Tamba vs Raiders super bowl.

The NFL is selling a product , they need ratings, they need growth as a company, that's why they are doing games in Mexico, and England. They are targeting women, Spanish speaking people who are mostly into soccer, so they need to generate a buzz.I don't think they rig a game between the Browns vs Bills for example, but they know that the Patriots for some reason sell, so they do certain things to insure they win and have every advantage possible, , and intervene thru the refs when it doesn't go the way they want. For example, the Pats should probably be like 7-5 this year but that wouldn't give them home field advantage or even possibly make the playoffs, then your casual fan will not tune in for the Bills, Jaguars , Tennesse playoff game. Maybe with the Pats women will tune in since Tom Brady is cute or whatever. I think the same applies for us Steelers, every where I go there is a huge Steelers fan base, I guess cuz we were the team of the 70s and we have a big fan base. We always get the calls are way vs the Bengals 100 percent believe that.

I don't believe, they can make players be a part of the scam, the players I believe are actually playing but are told to shut and play don't disrespect the shield. The coaches, coach . I agree if everyone was in on it of course someone would have blown the whole thing open because I know its hard to have 2 people carry out something without mistakes happening ,I could only imagine to try and have 1000s of players and coaches all being in on it together. They have an easy cover up for everything, every play theres a penalty, theres no way any CB can cover a 4.4 speed WR without touching him, so they can call PI on every play, and show you a replay on it, the same with offensive holding and so on.I believe the Owners, the refs and probably certain coaches are in on it. I think Belicheck knows what plays some teams are running and he makes sure his players DO THERE JOBS nonsense. I could coach if I knew that Seattle for example was gonna run that route in that SB.

The Patriots were never really that good thru out all these years except the year they had Randy Moss and Edelman, but a far crappier team and QB beat them in those Super Bowls. Brady is no Aaron Rogers and you know that ,hes good but not as great as they make him out to be, but hes good looking, got a pretty wife and hes marketing gold same with Payton Manning where as Ben has a bad image in the public.

So to close, we have a need to root and watch sports and we want to believe its fair and its true. Unfortunatly there has been so many instances where you yourself is question it because its pretty obvious. If it were 100 percent real, they would not have the ratings they have, it would more random, a Minnesota vs Cleveland super bowl, Carolina vs Tennessee super bowl, but who outside die hard fan would want to watch that and pay for it, people would start watching other sports, the best athletes would move on to other sports that made more money. Don't forget its a business and they operate for profit. Its all for the ratings and not the mob, las vegas conspiracy crap that every passes on to someone who sees it clearly.

I'm only going to touch on one point. If the owners were in on it they would be raising holy hell to get their Lombardi trophy. A person or group of people isn't going to spend billions of dollars on a team and keep quiet if they don't have a chance of winning it all. Make no mistake they want to win it all just as much as the players do. Jerry Jones would be the first in front of the microphone raising hell if ipthe NFL was rigged. Again I wish you people would spend half as much time thinking about these things as the time you spend dreaming up this bull****. You claim to love sports and that's why you watch. It's not a sport if it's rigged. So if you actually believed half the bull**** you post you wouldn't be watching.

I don't know Brady is pretty damn good Pete.

He is pretty egoless in that he is more than willing to take the short check down pass. Something few "gunslingers" are willing to do.

I think that is a big part of what make him great. He also throws a great ball, very accurate.

I just don't know why no one can't lay a hit on him?
