bench ike cut mundy and look as a veteran safety out there than start mclendon and heiward and play all the cbs (allen brown and lewis van dike )in tight coverage , let's see what happen at least you know who you need to keep and who cut at the end of the season , if goes bad you have a high picks next draft to reload the secondary

He did get injured early, but at some point in the second half I saw that he was playing again. I believe Tomlin did mention him as having a hip pointer or something but being able to return.

Depends on your definition of "turn it around" I think they will definitely start playing better then they have been and might rip off a few wins but they are just getting into the hard part of their schedule. Can they really beat the good teams? I mean their D made a dinosaur QB look like a pro bowler last night. The thought of what Dalton, Flacco, Eli, Romo, and Rivers could do to our D right now is down right scary.

I've said this a few times the last few weeks. My original projection was 11-5 but I had them at 4-1 at this point. I think for me a turnaround would be to get to 9-7 MAYBE 10-6 and since they are now 1 and 3 against AFC already they would almost have to sweep the AFC North to win head to head tiebreakers to get into the playoffs.

Foote has to look for a positive to phsyc himself up, but the 05 team had a productive running game, they had a 1 ranked defense that had a real pressure packing front 7 that also shut down the run: This team is a far cry from the 05 team, we dont have a running game, 54 yards rushing last night, we dont have a pressure front 7 that can consistantly stop the run, and this secondary gets torched every week without fail. The last time we went 0-3 on the road in 06 we went 8-8 with a lot better team than this one, and we are now down to using band aids because of all of the injuries, if mendenhall's achiles is serious he will be lost for the season, and with pouncey out we are back to band aids on the oline, so I cant imagine we will be laughing with joy as this season continues, if we intended to turn things around, then last night was the best chance we will have to do it this season, we didnt get it done so it is what it looks like, we're on a road game losing streak and now it looks like the bengals will be our next loss...........

I love the optimism but if it was just that easy they'd have done it already. I'm hoping for the best but preparing for the worse. That way by year end they can only exceed my expectations. I'm afraid it's gonna be one helluva disappointing season for us.

Okay, at least the other QBs can actually play. But Romo? Did you actually throw Romo into the mix? :roflmao:

I woke up this morning and couldn't eat.

I had a real hard time this morning coming to terms with things.

LOL well I wasn't going to but have you watched thw way our D is playing lately? If they play like that against Romo he will shred them like every other QB is doing to us even if personally I think he is terrible.

Yeah I'm pretty sure even if Ike Taylor is Romo's leading targeted receiver, our D would still loose the game.

I think it can happen. However, I am starting to share others' concerns about Tomlin instilling discipline on this team. Even if it's just through adequately motivating his coaches.

    1) Ike should not commit as much PI as he does. He's fast, and is often in the WRs back pocket. He needs to be aware of where the ball is and put his hands there and not on the WR. Unnecessary. If he uses his hands to go for the ball instead of grabbing the damned WR then he'll get INTs or deflections.

    2) Special Teams... too much to talk about... the punter and the kicker are fine, but the line and the tacklers... sheesh! Line lets defenders through and tacklers are constantly blocking in the back on punts.

    3) Defense... i think it's time to go tight man coverage. If the secondary is going to get burned, then might as well put each man in a position to make a play on individual talent, and let the safeties back up the CBs. Weave in zone to confuse the opposing QB, but only sparingly. Show them man coverage, first. And bring the heat on the pass rush. I don't care about the dink-and-dunk. At this point, just count on #92 and Co. to get there before they can get the short pass off. Remember when they used to call them "Blitzburgh"?

    4) Offense... find some adequate blockers... by any means necessary... Ben needs about 3 seconds, clean, to make his reads... RBs need the line of scrimmage... Period. Until the O-Line is fixed there's not much else that can be done with the Offense. Haley found out why BA was using those screens. Gotta show the rush down somehow cuz the O-Line doesn't feel it's necessary. And the receivers (I'm looking at you #17) need to pull the ball in (though I was happy to see him grab a sideline catch with his hands, last night).

The biggest thing this team needs to do is to get and STAY healthy. If they can, they've got a shot. I know it looks bleak now, but Im not writing them off just yet. Just look at the 2005 season. Or the Giants 2007 season. Or the Giants 2011 season. Its who gets hot AND healthy at the end that matters most.

They're going to shock everyone by beating top-tier teams and then everyone is going to be even more both confused and frustrated about Raiders and Titans. :roflmao:

But, this is what the Steelers do. They know they have to step up. If they don't, then it's bye-bye playoffs.

They also need to find Ward and Farrior's replacements... Foote won't be around much longer, and WR core doesn't have anyone taking that role. I'm hoping someone from Young Money just does it.

Agree... Current roster just needs to stack a few wins any way they can and give the starts time to get ready for Nov/Dec football. Steelers need to be on a win streak, and get hot beginning of Nov. Ugly wins until then are fine. Just be hot going into the end of reg season/playoffs.

Anyway, I don't share your optimism but I hope you're right.

I agree that we need to find Ward's replacement. When I was sitting in my seat at the stadium last night I watched Cotchery walk up to the huddle and I thought about the people on here who said they thought he was Hine's replacement and I just thought "man you guys are SO wrong". I'll tell you who I wanted to get and I think we dropped the ball when we had the chance because he is a very Hines like player. Anquan Boldin. That dude catches what you throw him and he goes across the middle and he can block. There you go.

I know it has become a soundbite, and not much more, but...you play to win the game. I don't care if we're 0-15 and losing will guarantee the number one super awesome mucho buttkicking sure fire prospect...I wanna win.

Boldin is a beast, perfect type of receiver for this division. What I would give to have him in black and gold.

    :hmmm: Mike Wallace?

We dropped the ball on Boldin. I was furious when the Ravens got him. I'm sick of watching Mike Wallace either get a deep look or "block". I'm in total favor of letting Wallace walk and using that money to get us a secondary. Why put all of your eggs in one basket? I know we need a deep threat but can we not get one for cheaper than $100mil? I like Mike Wallace but it's just a matter of dollars and cents and sense. Is it worth having a deep threat when it also means you have Mundy, Lewis and Taylor? I just think Wallace needs to be coached better but all the coaching in the world can not instill heart in to a guy that doesn't want it.

I think the issue is we need younger guys all over the field on defense. I think Wallace is a key player to our offense and we should re-sign him this off-season. As for turning it around, who knows. One week we look like the team we as fans thought they could be and the next we look like we couldn't beat a high school team. Right now I am going to say no because I think we really miss Farrior and Ward in terms of leaders on this team. I think the vets that are there are not the vocal leaders we need. Hopefully Foote can take that step but right now we are really putting ourselves in a very deep hole that I am not sure we can climb out of this year. If it continues we need to let the young guys play to see if any of them are worth keeping.

If we do or don't our first two picks need to be SS and CB. And like last year when we went OL this year needs to be focused on the D.

This organization is the best in the NFL and what I'm saying is if anyone can turn it around it is the Steeler owners and the coaches. It will get done, maybe not this year but I can see a good future for this team with a lot of changes ahead. I was watching ESPN the other day before the Broncos/ Pats game and the announcer says now we are going to see two SB teams go at it. We have 6 rings and I never hear anyone say and now we are going to watch the only team with 6 SB rings play. Of course on the other hand the way we are playing I can understand why that is not said. But it will turn around rest a sure of that.

Yes they can turn it around.

Ike is still playing like the replacement refs are watching him.

Got to get Troy back on the field..
