can we stop over paying defense players?

Credit cards are useful if not abused. Most of my credit cards have a ZERO balance and only used if I can pay them off. I use one of them to pay streaming bills in case Hulu, Netflix, MAX, etc... get hacked. It's much easier to cancel a credit card than a debit card.

Tomlin can't develop any young talent. Which defensive player have they drafted the last decade that has made a perennial impact? TJ Watt. Who else?

Bud Dupree, not a bust but was average. Artie Burns, bust. Terrell Edmunds bust, Devin Bush, bust. Joey Porter Jr, trending to be a bust.

Steelers haven't hit on defense since 2014 when they drafted Ryan Shazier. As a matter of fact, since his injury, the Steelers have never seemed to have recovered. Neither has Tomlin.

The Steelers need a fresh start. Stubborn ****ing owner needs to come to grips with this. It's so damn irritating. Steelers are a poor man's Dallas Cowboys right now.

I use them for points for normal usage like gas and groceries. Just have to be disciplined about paying it off each month. And I agree with the added protection that a cc has over a debit card.

In his “holdin” and @extebsion” he actually took a pay cut

At the moment he signed I saw the writing on the wall that he has no intention in coming back next year

This is a weird stance. Is this how you argue normally?

We'll find out from his ten plus episode podcast. And have to put up with hearing how he deserved yet another big pay raise after game 2 this season.

I have two credit cards and live within my income so I pay both off each month

One I use just for paying monthly recurring bills and this card never gets compromised so I don’t have to screw with changing all of my payment methods

The other I use for day to day stuff and it occasionally gets screwed up but then it’s easy to just get a replacement

I charge everything I can and use an airline card so I wind up with free tickets

Plus when traveling abroad it’s nice to have a backup card just in case

And I don’t pay a yearly fee when it shows up I just tell them to make it go away and they do because they look at the fees they are making from my use with merchants

I totally agree; however, TJ was certainly a hit.

I totally agree with needing a fresh start. I'm all for trading Tomlin and Omar as a packaged deal and promoting Weidle as GM, and from there selling older talent for picks and completely rebuilding the roster. We'll have some losing seasons; however, this looks to be a losing season despite the talent.

    The 146M is gross pay.

Net worth of 35M is not bad

If thats the case then why can’t we play press man coverage to slow down the quick passing game or throw the timing off. Even when we play man we play off. I understand Slay isn’t a man corner so then why would you go out and sign the guy. It’s Tomlin thinking he knows better than everyone and trying to fit a square peg into a round hole again. He continues to fall in love with players he has no right in falling in love with. You either have a system and you look for talent that will support and fit into your system or you build a system around your talent to maximize their skill set. I feel like we don’t do either of those things well.

There is some good news regarding Steelers and cap space next year. I looked up numbers on Sportrac, and Steelers are in great shape next off-season even without having to release guys. I mistakenly assumed their cap situation would not look so good. Right now they are projected to be $73M under the cap. That is without releasing anyone under contract. They could dump Heyward, Queen, Highsmith, Freiermuth, and Ramsey with minimal dead $$ and get significantly more space. Heyward has a roughly $12.5M roster bonus due in March, but the team could release him before then and avoid that. The only guys that make big money that they can't cut are TJ and DK (and I am not saying they should do that either).

So, even though I am down on the state of the team currently, Omar at least has not handicapped them past this year. They have a lot of freedom with the cap.

This upcoming off-season is the time to bring in a new coaching staff and start rebuilding the team. They made a last gasp effort to be an AFC contender this year, but it is not panning out.

TOMLIN is so arrogant and thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room at all times. Unfortunately for us he’s not even close.

That’s why it needed to be done when I said so… He had 1 year left, clearly wanted to get paid big, and was best in the game. We could’ve got great return at the time like multiple 1st imo. Some team would’ve overpaid for him and gave him a better overall contract than us. Steelers and Watt win.

Instead we made him the highest paid and he’s not producing. Steelers lose.

His fall off in play goes back to end of last year. I honestly believe the timelines match up with the birth of his kid. I think he had to be in such a psycho head place to be as dominant as he was for so long. Now he has more important things to live for. Also, he can’t be resting/training/dedicated to his craft as much after your 1st kid. That’s where his edge came from too because he never had elite athleticism.

Yes they managed that well with the exception of Watt. They have to trade him next year even if it’s for a third rounder. He is too old to build a team around. I would even let Highsmith walk and build the edge with Herbig and through the draft. If they could trade Watt to someone like Philly for a 2nd and 3rd Inwould do it but I doubt they will get even that with his salary. We should have traded him this year.

I was on a different board but I wanted to trade Watt after his rookie contract. I know.. sounds crazy but we would’ve got 2 first rounders and enough to actually move up and draft a legit QB.

Its just too easy to scheme him out of a game. Hell, Miles Garrett had FIVE SACKS last game and they still lost by 10. An edge is not going to win you games that matter the most IMO.

JH was a monster but we also had a real NT, legit ILB’s and a HOFer at safety.

Have to remember 50% of that 146 went to taxes and another 3 to 5% goes to the agent before seeing a dime.

Also.. those google net worths aren’t accurate.

Weird how? Cowherd and other media folks are focusing on the cost of the defense. If the defense performed up to task, would we be talking about stop spending money on defense? Are the Steelers having cap trouble?

Problem isn't on money spent it is on performance and more importantly coaching IMO.
