Can Pittsburgh get to the 2nd seed or is 3 as high as they can go? Not sure who I should be cheering for tonight. Obviously if they can get to the 2nd seed then I will cheer for the Bungles...

It's possible, the Bengals would have to beat the Broncos. We would then have to beat the Bengals, Then the crazy part, the Raiders would have to beat the Denver in the final week. I just don't see all that happening.

Highly doubtful. I think the best case scenario is for the Steelers to play SD, mostly because Rivers is hurting with a bulging disc in his back. Realistically, if we win next week, we'll be playing the Ravens (Cinn losing twice), which is why I was hoping the Colts won out.

I don't believe the Steelers have a chance at the number 2 seed now. IIRC, due to tiebreakers, the Patriots had to lose their last 2, not the Broncos.

    No very doubtful

I had Denver losing out and Bengals winning out

Cincy 2nd seed Denver 3 seed

B more or Diego would be 6th

making us play at indy at cincy and then hoping the ravens or chargers beating both Denver and Pats
giving us the afccg at home

Now if they would have won a couple of those crappy games...TB, NYJ, etc...then they'd be right up there.

    Yes, that's right.
All depends exclusively on the outcome of our game vs Bengals:
Win = #3, host Playoff game
Tie = #4, host Playoff game
Lose = #5, visit Indy or Cincy

Pretty sure PGH or CIN can only be the #3 or #5 seeds with the winner of the game getting the higher seed with Indy locked into the #4 seed. If PGH wins they are 11-5 and get the #3 over Indy if they are tied because they defeated the Colts. If CIN wins they are 11-4-1 which would trump Indy finishing 11-5 and they would get the #3 seed. So as freak noted they either host KC, SD, or BAL or go on the road to Indy. I think the matchups with Indy or KC favor the Steelers, BAL is a a wash - you never know what can happen in those games, SD spooks me Rivers when hot can carve up anybody and Gates is a huge matchup problem for us.

Not worried about Indy or SD, although the latter is a mentally tough team. They can't run the ball very much however. I do NOT want the Ravens. The Steelers have never lost a game to a division opponent in the playoffs- EVER- and I don't want to see that streak end in my lifetime.

Right. Here's a chart that illustrates the possible available seeding outcomes.

The team I don't want to face is New England. While a home game is nice, I think my ultimate playoff scenario is as follows:
    1. NE
    2. Den
    3. Cin
    4. Ind
    5. Pit
    6. Bal

    Steelers beat Colts
    Ravens beat Bungles

    Steelers beat Denver
    Ravens beat NE

Steelers host AFCCG and beat Ravens.

But, let's take it one game at a time. Wishing for a loss is just kind of dumb. So just take care of business and get that #3 seed.

yeah 3 seed would still avoid NE until the afc championship

Yep. Completely frustrating that the Steelers come out flat against these lesser teams. Steelers really could be sitting at 12-3 right now had they played with more intensity and discipline for those two games.

Personally speaking, I like where we stand. And I like the fact that the Bengals won yesterday.

    1. I did NOT want to play a Bengals team fighting for their lives and wanting the win more in the last week and go into the playoffs with a home loss.
    2. We can now beat a Bengals teams that has blown their wad and will not want the game any more than us.
    3. I DO want the Ravens. For two reasons. a) they are very beat up and not the Ravens of old b) This ensures that our team will get REALLY up for this game it being a rivalry minimizing chances of a letdown game.
    4. I do NOT want the Chargers. I ****ing hate laserface and the thought of risking losing to him is nausiating. HUGE trap game as well.
    5. I would rather NOT go into Indy to face a team that will be looking for revenge. I think we're a better team but something tells me we do not beat them again.

I think we win and get the 3rd. seed . If the games fall the way I think they will then the seeds will be as followed.#1 New England #2 Denver #3 US #4 Colts #5 Bengals #6 Baltimore...

I actually think that may be good for us as we beat the Ravens and the Bengals beat the Colts. This would send us to Denver and send the Bengals to the Patriots . If anyone has the type of Team to go into Pats stadium and win it is the Bengals. They match up very well and can play press coverage and take Brady out of his game like they did Manning.

The big Question will be, can we beat the Broncos ? I hope we can that would put us back home against the Bengals for the Championship . Of course this all starts with a needed win this Sunday night.

The Steelers can't fully control who they play throughout the playoffs. So they simply need to win the four games in the playoffs if they are good enough to win the SB. It won't be easy but I think they can do it.

What is the tie-breaker Denver has over the Steelers? If they are tied after next week, both would have the same conference records, what is next? Is it common opponents (in which case the loss to the Jets killed us)?

Screw all this talk about, not wanting to play one team, and wanting to play another.
In the words of Rick Flair "You want to be the man, you got to beat the man." Whoooooo.......

We are going to play, who we play, and we are going to bring it, if we don't bring it enough, we lose, it's pretty simple.
