Skip is a douche. I understand what Ryan was trying to get across. No one ever put a specific bounty on a specific person. He walked around saying anything else, and Skip kept pushing for bounty programs at the Steelers, etc.

I may be wrong, but in reality, there was probably a general consensus reward system for big hits, big plays, etc, but nothing specifically naming an opposing player. And some dumb kid was upset with Greg Williams and started squealing after the season was over, after Williams had left for St Louis. Ryan is right that whomever "tattled" should be ashamed of themselves. This thing has blown way way out of proportion.

I came into this thread expecting to think Ryan Clark messed up. I agree completely with everything he said and I've thought this all along. If these clowns who had a problem with this bounty program didn't speak up at the time, why are they doing it now? It's like Jose Canseco running his mouth about steroids long after his steroid filled career ended. It's hypocritical.

Either speak up at the time if you have a problem with it, or shut your mouth forever!

    I disagree.

Going by his tweet, the perception is that Ryan Clark condones the Saints bounty system. Now Skip is over the line when he says it also implies that the Steelers have one too. But in general it looks as if Clark agrees with what was done.

Nothing wrong with Clark's tweet; not sure how it's construed that it condones a bounty system.

    Clark OWNED Skip!!!
If you just listen to what he is saying, it makes perfect sense...
Clark says (paraphrasing) " look, if you have a problem with what was going on, the time to say something about it, is WHILE it was going on"... Stand up, be a MAN, and say "NO, I won`t do this"...
Don`t benefit from it, participate in it, and then, later down the road, say, "Man, this was wrong... We shouldn`t have been doing this"...
    (Mostly because they got caught...)...
This applies in a lot of areas of life, and I think Ryan Clark has absolutely the right idea about it.
More power to him, for calling it how he sees it, and bonus points for clarifying his point of view, on Skip`s show, and making Skip(and the media in general), look like a fool, because he was well spoken about his beliefs, and wouldn`t back down from his point of view!

Why should Clark shut up? He's 100% correct. I don't condone the bounty system, but we aren't talking about dirty hits here. This just sounds like a guy blowing the whistle because he has an ax to grind. You want to speak out now, then put your name to it, don't be a wuss.

I wish the morons who keep telling Clark to shutup when hes done nor said anything wrong would just shut up themselves and quit making yourselves look like idiots.

Clark is absolutely correct. That one tweet doesn't tell the whole story and Clark defended his opinion so well that even Skip was nearly at a loss for words. And that's saying something! He makes me mad which is exactly what ESPN wants which makes me even more mad.

Both can't be wrong Bobby. You gotta take a side. I agree with Clark. You want to rat on a teammate, do it when it happened. I bet when we find out who this guy is, He was told he wasn't coming back. If not, he will be one of the ones cut for sure now. :amen:

Skip tried at the end to be a "tough guy" with Ryan, but failed big time!

    :this!:

I can't stand people who think "snitching" is bad on its face, and I don't really like the word snitch. People shedding light on dirty wrongdoings is important, and if we had more of it in our country, maybe fewer things would be so corrupt. But 5, 10 years later? If you really think it's wrong, say something. By waiting this long, it does seem like you were waiting until you couldn't benefit from it anymore, whether you did in fact benefit from it or not.

Clark is making a bit of a leap in his tweet saying that whoever it was got paid. Maybe they did, maybe they didn't, but by waiting so long they left that door open themselves.

I agree Huge Snack, I wonder if the guy will ever do a intreview to explain how he felt about the bounty on players, or if he thought he would suffer if he blew the whistle.

    Ding ding ding ding.

Tiny little detail that changes everything.

Unless I missed it, I have not seen anything that says that the person who brought this issue to light was a player. More specifically a defensive player. And even more specifically, one who got paid.

Maybe Im wrong and someone can give me a link that shows that this is the case and I'll change my mind. But until then, I stick to my OP.

It could've just as easily been a position coach, a trainer, or a number of other people involved with the organization, rather than a player on the team (and one who was paid) who got the leagues attention on this. Its a big assumption for ANYONE to make, let alone Ryan Clark. And then to go public with it on Twitter? Im sorry, but without the information as to who turned the Saints in, it just looks bad.

I was under the impression that Matt Bowen brought this whole thing to light. At the very least, Matt Bowen is sharing all the details, whereas other players are playing dumb so as not to get Greg Williams in trouble.

learn to cover better and stop being late with over the top help.

Weak link in the secondary. Instead of covering stories with your tweets, work on your coverage skills Ryan. You can't cover a grill.

I totally 100% support and agree with what Clark said. All these talking heads are what is hurting the NFL. The bounty systems may have been against the rules financially but I do not think for a second Greg Williams paid guys $$ to specifically hurt someones I believe it was just for sacks, picks and big hits and I think the talking heads made it into this hurting players for money thing.

Considering that since he's been here we've consistently had one of the best pass defenses in the league, and we've had extremely inconsistent CB play every year, I'd say he's not the weak link and never has been. I wish people would show some respect for what this guy has done for this team over the years, up to and including the final week of the season, the Wild Card game.

I agree. I'm a fan of Clark's play. I think he's the perfect Compliment to TP and a crucial part of the D. The most under rated player on D IMHO.

Completely agree with this! And I agree with the those that support Clark in his play and what he brings to the team. I don't understand the criticism he receives from some people. Yes, he has made mistakes but he has always been a great compliment to Troy P.
